What are perks and other benefits like at Publix?

      Publix reviews

Good Benefits and Work, but all depends on Manager

      Produce clerk
      Current employee
      Miami, FL
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great benefits, 401k, employee stock plan, insurance, and tuition reimbursement.

      Cons

You can either have a really easy time with a good manager, or a terrible time when you have a terrible one, it’s a russian roulette since managers get moved from store to store every so often.

      Great place to work

      Pt customer service staff
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The people you work with will always be great people, there is tuition reimbursement which helps if you are a college student, there is also other benefits such as stock and insurance that they provide

      Cons

As a customer Service staff working in the store sometimes you will be working nights and mornings, like one day you're working a night shift then the next day you're working a morning shift. This can be fixed though if you get with your manager when the schedule comes out.

      Great company

      Warehouse supervisor
      Current employee
      Lakeland, FL
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great benefits, great retirement, 401K, Free Lunch and opportunity to grow

      Cons

      Only one headquarters in Lakeland

      Great Benefits

      Deli clerk
      Former employee
      North Miami, FL
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

There are several benefits to working at Publix including, a 401k plan, stock options, and flexible hours.

      Cons

Store hours may require associates to work in the early mornings, nights, or weekends.

Good first job if you are willing to work a mindless job

      Grocery associate
      Current employee
      Marietta, GA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Working at Publix is a mindless job that almost anyone can do well if they put in effort, meaning that you do not have to sacrifice your mental well being to not get fired. The managers are good most of the time and the benefits are far better than other grocery stores. It is a great first job for retail experience, it really exposes you to the adult world in a good way.

      Cons

The scheduling can sometimes be terrible, if you call out sometimes the managers will schedule you 4 hours in a week to force you to quit. A lot is expected of you if you rise to a middle management position such as team leader, but you do not get that much extra pay. The company culture is very much a "do more than your pay" kind of mindset which can be tiring to deal with.

      Good college job

      Customer service representative
      Current employee
      Florida City, FL
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Flexible schedule, good benefits, and opportunities to get promoted from cashier to customer service

      Cons

Management could be weird sometimes, also is not what it used to be

A good company but they will take advantage of you

      Customer service staff
      Former employee
      Suwanee, GA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

They have good pay and some decent flexibility and good benefits

      Cons

They will overwork you They sometimes will not give you the promised pay Management is a mess Drama heavy environment Might deal with some racist managers Managers get away with a lot of messed up behaviors Non-existent work like balance the higher you move up

Publix is a good place to start

      Front service clerk
      Former employee
      Pembroke Pines, FL
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Publix has good benefits, friendly environment and provides many opportunities to management.

      Cons

Can be overwhelmingly fast pace. Pay could be higher for high school students.

      Good benefits

      Forklift operator
      Former employee
      Dacula, GA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good benefits, stock, free lunch everyday, easy to move around positions

      Cons

Micro management, schedule, modified schedule, strict level system

      Publix Doesn’t Care That Much

      Sales associate/cashier
      Former employee
      Conyers, GA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Great co-workers and nice customers

      Cons

Hard to get some benefits, the pay is not competitive, the raises are small, and the company doesn’t seem to value employee retention. I earn 50 cents more than a new employee by the way which doesn’t seem fair.
