What is paid time off like at Walmart?

Pros

They will hire anyone if they are breathing

Cons

Poor pay, micromanagement of everything over hourly employees, treat hourly employees like little kids, no holidays, very little time off, will not accept doctor notes for absences, restrictive time off policy even if using leave time goes against your overall evaluation, poor equipment and programs that don't work a lot of the time, lack of communication from upper levels to hourly levels, facilities are old and converted warehouses for office workers and spread out over miles, no centralization of Home Office other than in same City, management plays favorites and already knows who they want for promotional opportunities and just go through the process to make it look good, layoff long term employees due to making more than they want to pay and fill with new employees at lower pay grade.

Advice to Management

Pay better, offer better benefits, hire quality employees, actually follow Mr. Sam's beliefs about taking care of Associates, sharing profits with Associates, treat employees like adults, give staff some autonomy and be flexible with time off and such, stop giving mid level managers higher bonuses than hourly staff make in a year and make them earn it, make sure your managers treat hourly staff right and respect them and that they have a program or people they manage or remove their title of manager, if you want your managers to be respected make sure they have the education and experience to be in that position and that they know how to do the job (attend hourly training, job shadow, research the jobs they manage), don't appoint someone to management just because they are a friend or relative of someone but because they are good staff and have real leadership abilities, people work for an follow a leader, they do just what is expected for a boss.

Does Walmart offer dental insurance?

Pros

Good pay starting at $11 an hour, a lot of opportunities to advance within the company, good benefits including 401 k, ability to purchase stocks, health, dental, vision, etc.

Cons

Scheduling system is not the best, has many flaws. Some associates don’t get enough hours while others get scheduled to work late evenings just to turn back around and come in the next morning. They need a better process to eliminate these flaws and create better coverage for the store.

Advice to Management

Look over your personnel coordinator’s schedule and fix changes that affect your department so that there are no shortage in employees and so that they want to continue to work at Walmart and further their career. Also, they deserve weekends off with out having to request them sometimes. Thank you.
