      Account Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at 2U (Washington, DC) in Aug 2018

      Interview

I was contacted shortly after applying for another position and was asked to have a phone screen the next day. During the phone screen, we mutually decided that I would be a better fit for a more advanced position and set up another phone screen later in the week. During that call, I was presented with 2 new job positions and basically asked which one I would like to "go for." I chose the position that was not yet posted and was forwarded to a manager for that team. We had a video interview the following week for the 3rd discussed job. During this call, I got the sense that the team was flying by the seat of their pants - which can be exciting in a start up environment, but also a little unsettling for an applicant. Overall, I felt that i was qualified for the position and would add significant value to the team. However, after the interview, all communication stopped from HR, who had been requiring quick responses from me early on in the process. To go from a hurried sense of communication to silence was very strange. After a month (and 2 follow up emails that were never responded to) I received a generic "Dear Applicant," rejection email. After going through those hoops and being passed job opening to job opening only to be given a generic rejection makes me glad that I am not going to work for this company. I would hope that the positive energy that 2U puts out into its branding would be also extended to applicants and employees, but it appears not to be the case.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at 2U

      Interview

I filled out the application online and then a recruiter called me 2 weeks later. We set up our initial call and they moved me on to the next round, speaking with the manager. The manager sounded like she was up all night, didn't have her thoughts together, and very low energy. Said she had only been there for about 5 months so far and that she wasn't exactly sure about the day to day schedule and that I can ask when I come in for a shadow. Waited about 1 week without a word from the recruiter, but then was scheduled for my video call interviews with 2 other managers back to back. After that step, the recruiter had no response with me despite calling and emailing numerous times for about 2 weeks. I called from a different number and he finally picked up and told me they'd have a decision soon. Next day he called to tell me they selected someone else that had much more experience but that I was a great candidate and that I should apply for another job as a Student Support Specialist with them. Terrible process, very unprofessional vibe and lack of organization.
