I applied in-person. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at City Year (New York, NY) in Dec 2015
Interview
I applied for the November 15th deadline. I received an email November 24th to do a selection interview (I didn't have to do the phone interview for some reason). I was able to pick the date, time, and if I wanted it in-perso or via phone. I choose in person because it gives your personality a chance to come through. It was in a large room with other people being interviewed. They told me I'd get an email soon if I whether I was selected, waitlisted, or declined.
Very simple. Quick virtual interview and pretty simple questions. Research their values and what not and you should be good to go. As far as I remember it was a single interview and decision is relatively soon after that.
Really friendly and welcoming. Try to make it as comfortable as possible and share about the work they do. They want to ensure applicants are making the right decisions and that they assess the values.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at City Year
Interview
Done over zoom and not an overly long process interviews are usually conducted by the IM for a school in the city you are applying for but if you have a pulse you should be fine
