I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at MongoDB (New York, NY) in Jun 2013
Interview
It started with a phone interview to gauge interest & basic qualifications. After that, another phone interview, this time with some coding (where the hiring manager watched me code in real time). They liked what they saw, so they invited me in for an in-person interview.
In-person, they gave me a few puzzles to make sure that I'm competent with what I'm doing. Several interviewers were more interested in a fit interview, which I took to be a good sign. The interview ended up going over, though I had to leave, so I came back for a second-round interview with one of the technical executives, who gave me some more puzzles, this time a little more rigorous.
They checked my references pretty thoroughly (or so I hear), and the job offer came. Total time was maybe 2 months, just because the pre-screen with the recruiter & the phone interviews took awhile.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is your database experience? Once they determined that I knew some SQL, they asked me to put together a few queries to demonstrate that I knew what I was talking about.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at MongoDB in May 2026
Interview
They took two weeks to schedule first round of interview. The first round was system design and it was a softball. Interviewer looked satisfied with the solution. The recruiter since then has completely ghosted despite 3 follow-ups. There is no bottom to how poorly candidates can be treated these days.
I applied through other source. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at MongoDB (Madrid) in Sep 2025
Interview

I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at MongoDB (New York, NY)
Interview
First phone call with the Recruiter, it was mostly about the company, background about the position, my qualifications. It was pleasant experience, learned a lot about the company, their direction and etc.
Second interview: technical phone call for 1 hour.
This was probably my worse experience ever, there was some technicality issues with the phone call from the engineer end, I couldn’t hear anything. As a result, it was only 15 minutes interview and was rejected thereafter... its part of life.
