I have been working at Concentra full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    1. You get out what you put in. Internal promotions are common in corporate. People stay for their entire careers because there’s a lot of opportunity.

    2. You can easily move between teams. I know people who have started out in customer service and moved to sales, others who started in a clinic and moved to operations, and others who moved from their original team to start their own for a new product or service.

    3. On some teams, it’s a very startup-like environment. What might be a 100-person organization in a company of similar size is 10 or fewer here. It means there’s a lot to do, but also a lot of opportunity to impact things and get great experience, especially for people just entering the workforce. It’s an excellent place to grow.

    4. It’s a small company at heart. Don’t be fooled by the number of employees. The corporate office is small, and everyone knows everyone else. Photos of employees and their families line the walls, and people really do make an effort to be kind and welcoming, especially to new hires.

    5. In corporate, most teams offer flexible schedules and remote work days. Strong family focus. Free perks: onsite gym. Not free, but still perks: onsite dry cleaning, daycare, cafeteria.

    Cons

Healthcare is hard at the corporate level. There’s a huge amount of information to learn, and while you’ll come out with a lot of transferable knowledge, the learning curve can be steep. This isn’t exclusive to Concentra, but just be aware if you’re coming from another industry. Everyone will help you get up to speed, but it does take longer than in less complex industries.

    Pros

As an Xray Tech we get an opportunity to learn what an M.A does, including venipunture and injections. Set schedule holidays off, no rotation unless you are working as a PRN or want OT. You don't work with upper or lower GI's , no Portables or C-arm.

    Cons

No union, if there was a union we would all be much happier workers. Needs to be more Equity than Equality.

    Advice to Management

Get a Union involved for all workers, that way it will be a less turnaround in hiring people.

    Pros

Good benefits, opportunity to move up within company if you put in the extra work , great Co workers feels like another family.

    Cons

The busy locations tend to be severely understaffed at times. If you have small children can be difficult getting off on time to pick them up, vacation time is competitive around the holidays. This is only for the busier locations.

    Advice to Management

    None

    I worked at Concentra full-time

    Pros

Teams in the clinic are hardworking. Occupational medicine is an interesting field. Employees are to make a lot of contacts throughout different industries during the course of the day.

    Cons

It is normal to have 70-hour work weeks for months at a time. Hourly staff compensation is poor, so managers often have to step in to perform several other people's duties, as positions are vacated or remain open for long periods of time. McDonald's feel to the business model: give the cheapest prices and try to get the most people in. Care suffers and it creates a poor work/life balance as staff struggles to meet excessive efficiency goals. Directors of Operation are reactionary, rather than working with the clinics proactively. No sense of team between clinics and middle/upper management.

    Advice to Management

Turnover at Concentra - from front office to MAs to Center Operations Directors - is horrible. The "Orange Book" vision does not seem to be followed by many people above center level. There is no cohesive business plan. The moving targets of what is important shift every few weeks, leaving the field blindsided and confused.

I have been working at Concentra full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the best reasons to work at Concentra include work life balance, meeting and networking with some of the best healthcare professionals in the field and also having the ability to advance within the company. Concentra rewards talent and hard working colleagues.

    Cons

I have no Cons to share based on my individual experience. This has by far been one of my favorite employers to work for.

    Advice to Management

Always maintain a connection with your employees so you know what motivates them to put out their best work. Lastly, you do not have to know how to do what your employees do, but at least know what they have going on day to day.

I worked at Concentra full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good pay and benefits.

    Cons

Center management was poor, manager walked around wanting to instill fear in everyone. If staff respects you, you get more done... Two-way radios that staff have to wear are ridiculous, so hard to be on the phone or rooming a patient with garbage talk in your ear. Too much unneeded babble and what are we having for lunch talk for the radios to be effective. Patients are roomed and then put on an archaic "board system. This baffled me, after being in the medical field for 15 years, and with all the computer systems available, this is the best they can do? A BOARD? Let's talk about the computer systems now, they use Allscripts, which is only functional when used with other systems. So backwards, it is hard to believe such a large company would use pre-2009 technology. I was fooled at the interview that Concentra was a positive place to work, it is not. Concentra is just another "Numbers-based", money machine pretending to be a heath-care company that cares about people. They don't. This has been the worst employment experience of my life.

    Advice to Management

    See above.

Good co-workers that work together in order to provide good quality care.

    Cons

Micro Managed doesn't let employees work to there full ability

    Advice to Management

Stop Micro management (every clinic is not the same so don't treat it as such)
