I have been working at Fujitsu full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great portfolio of offerings and support to execute on the offerings.

    Cons

Layoffs and reorgs abound. Leadership has no clue what to do and doesn't seem to have a steady plan. In panic mode.

    Advice to Management

Get a plan and stick with it.

I worked at Fujitsu full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent salary and benefits. Excellent co-workers.
Career opportunities abound for the right people.

    Cons

Constant churn of reorg after reorg after reorg.
Too much time spent navel-gazing and not enough time spent taking care of customers.
Unrealistic budget goals and ruthlessly cutting of teams to achieve them. Short-sighted management of current resources.
Healthcare plan is the worst I have ever seen - all are forced into HRA or HSA; HRA amounts provided are fine for young, healthy people who never see a doctor but ridiculous for anyone else AND they make you jump through hoops even to get all of the amount they agree to provide. Up-front amount decreases and deductible increases every year.
No raises, no bonuses - no sense at all that upper management sees resources as anything other than expendable, disposable, and interchangeable.

    Advice to Management

If you truly value your employees, treat them better. Stop trying to cut your way to profitability - it never worked before, it will not work now. Stop shoving all your best experience in the trash and live up to your vaunted "responsible business" blather.

    Pros

Competitive pay; good 401K matching and discretionary contributions

    Cons

    Mediocre healthcare coverage

Long term concerns with company stability - revenues in some divisions are down significantly and consistently year over year. They don't seem to understand the necessary changes that are needed to address the market concerns and regain competitiveness.

I worked at Fujitsu full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Responsive and friendly HR and technical staff. A diversity of workers. Sunnyvale location is in walking distance of local restaurants. 401K plan and other package benefits. Very good pay.

    Cons

Company cafeteria is understaffed which affected the quality and time to serve food. Cubical office model. Interns do not have vacation with pay.

    Advice to Management

Create more balance in a team's distribution of work. Intern should not be responsible for all software development and integration.

    Pros

Enjoyed work challenges and work life balance

    Cons

Management and performance review system is terrible. Use bell shaped curve and put bottom 10% on performance improvement program. Force ranking. Favoritism rampant.

    Advice to Management

Change performance review system. Put directors on forced ranking. Do employee survey and determine morale problems.

    Pros

I enjoy the people I work with. Good work / life balance. They have a nice campus with a cafeteria, workout room, a recreational room.

    Cons

Growth opportunity is good for new grads but may be some what limited for people with a lot of experience.

I worked at Fujitsu full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work/life balance in Washington, DC. Good people. Fascinating technology policy issue set. Opportunities to travel to Japan, Germany, and London. Good access to key trade associations and networking.

    Cons

Large Japanese conglomerate. "Galapagos effect"--all the cool technology and ideas are trapped in Japan and in Japanese and don't migrate globally via English. Age and experience is value over youth and activity. Very internally disjointed. Old and depreciating facilities. Low-middle benefits and no equity.

    Advice to Management

Invest, don't cut your way out of decline. Put Americans on the Board if you want to be global. Force HQ employees to only work in English. Refresh buildings and culture to attract talented young graduates--and then challenge them and promote them rapidly.
