I worked at Guess? (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount was great if you like Guess clothes. Pretty laid back work environment as long as you engage with customers and keep the sales floor clean

    Cons

Too much work to do and not enough compensation. I was told I would get a raise after a year and never got it.

    Advice to Management

This will vary depending on store to store, but just get better with communication with the higher ups.

I have been working at Guess? part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you're into fashion & not just working here for the pay, you'll love it. GUESS is always spot on with trends & the prices are great. When things go wrong within the company, it's usually handled very quickly. The employee discount PLUS all the bonus days are great, better than most companies. Amazing environment & always upbeat.

    Cons

I think there should be a better way of doing the hiring. Some type of higher up should come in to our store without us knowing you work for the company to see how we interact or how sales associates/managers treat the customers. Not only in my store, but in all the GUESS stores i have gone into, as a customer & employee, the associates/managers are insanely rude, judgemental, lazy & stuck up. I can count on one hand, how many of them are actually nice & willing to help you without it seeming like a chore. Before I worked for GUESS, tons of people I know complained about how they hate coming in because they are always treated like they're a bother or the associate is rude. As an employee, I've noticed that with only a couple of my associates, but a lot more while transferring to other GUESS stores. The associates are so rude & get so annoyed when asked for help, which should be expected when it's another GUESS store helping them out & doesn't know where everything is or who everyone is. I've also had customers complain to me about the other GUESS stores about how rude they are, that they even want certain members fired for it. I love this company, but the associates & managers need some reinforcement on how to treat eachother & customers.

    Advice to Management

Do check ups in person not only on your product, but on the employee's.

I worked at Guess? part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good discounts 40% and 50% on some occasions.
Flexible hours at times when you need certain days off.
You get a $50 bonus if your store makes their numbers.

    Cons

It's all about favoritism at the end they will promote people with little knowledge since they older over someone that's 21 that has the skills and knowledge needed. Everyone quitting left and right due to not treating staff right co management as well as associates or other reasons since management can't keep it together. Refuse to give raises worked there three years and nothing. Sometimes breaks small HR such as skip peoples breaks management got scared when a few people were trying to call HR even freaked out asked around who was giving out HR number.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with care and you wouldn't be having to hire a new person every other week because some one quit on you when they found a better job somewhere else.

I worked at Guess? full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Overall good benefits, including
    Paid time off
    6 sick days
    Personal and floating holidays
    Good medical
    401k
Getting to meet lots of people in the industry since the office is so big. I met some great people here.

    Cons

    Favoritism
    Unethical petty supervisor
    Overpriced onsite cafe
    Strict corporate culture
    Stuffy work environment
    Boring and monotonous clothing
    Below average pay
    Unprofessional management
    Lack of growth from within

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the toxic managers that love to stir up gossip at the expense of others. The company can do better to hire managers that actually work instead of sitting on their pedestals, coming in just to collect a paycheck and boost their ego.

I worked at Guess? (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun company to work for, cute clothes, and benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

Boss and employee inappropriate relationships run rampant. Hiring discrimination on age and looks, over worked and no world life balance, high shrink, high turnover rate, and the list goes on. This was my first store manager job and I thought that this was the best company out there until I left and went else where. They promote store managers from within and drill in your head that this is the best company out there, but managers eventually quit for being overworked and under appreciated.

    Advice to Management

Give more hours so the store manager doesn't have to slave and can manage shrink. Run the company professionally instead of turning a blind eye to inappropriate relationships, quit playing favoritism and be consistent, value your employees, and work life balance.
