I have been working at HNTB part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Great leadership, really care about their employees, make every effort to provide opportunities for everyone, and always looking to improve
    - Empowerment - anyone at any level is valued and can take on leadership roles. There is no discrimination or feeling of people being set in their old ways. Very proactive and positive company.
    - Great people, coworkers are always hard working and inspiring
    - Best projects - have established as the company to beat in the industry
    - Good benefits, company ownership, retirement, etc
    - Extremely understanding of work/life balance

    Cons

    - Can't think of any

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work :) We would love if there were even more transparency with younger staff - always communication about what's going on at the higher levels so we can better appreciate the bigger picture.

    Pros

It’s a job if you really need one

    Cons

Elitist culture, poor management, low morale

    Advice to Management

Your ability to profit depends on the people that leave every evening. Give them a good reason to come back the next day.

I have been working at HNTB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company pays a good salary and benefits. The office is located in the Chicago loop.

    Cons

There is no mentorship, professional development or opportunities to grow/move up. Being billable is strongly emphasized, so some of your own time is dedicated for marketing. There is low morale and the culture is strictly about fulfilling billable hours. The company tends to hire outside the company for their client relationships instead of promoting within. Poor communication in the office and among departments.

    Advice to Management

Better communication within the office and departments, provide more professional development , develop employees, restructure to provide more opportunities and less stress on completing billable hours. The stress on billable hours creates a non friendly work environment.

I worked at HNTB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Big High quality projects and great Benefits they have no problem using the latest versions of the software they use.

    Cons

No training at all. As a recent graduate they expect you to do the job of a PE to save money on their budget since they don’t pay you as much as a PE. Its not very common that this company pays for a training or local professional associations. Not a good pay for new grads, if you are a new grad please avoid HNTB

    Advice to Management

Have some empathy for your team
