I have been working at HNTB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company pays a good salary and benefits. The office is located in the Chicago loop.

    Cons

There is no mentorship, professional development or opportunities to grow/move up. Being billable is strongly emphasized, so some of your own time is dedicated for marketing. There is low morale and the culture is strictly about fulfilling billable hours. The company tends to hire outside the company for their client relationships instead of promoting within. Poor communication in the office and among departments.

    Advice to Management

Better communication within the office and departments, provide more professional development , develop employees, restructure to provide more opportunities and less stress on completing billable hours. The stress on billable hours creates a non friendly work environment.

Some positions depend on winning a contract - if you lose the contract, you lose your job, no matter how long you've been there.

I worked at HNTB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Big High quality projects and great Benefits they have no problem using the latest versions of the software they use.

    Cons

No training at all. As a recent graduate they expect you to do the job of a PE to save money on their budget since they don’t pay you as much as a PE. Its not very common that this company pays for a training or local professional associations. Not a good pay for new grads, if you are a new grad please avoid HNTB

    Advice to Management

Have some empathy for your team
