I have been working at Hologic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work experience really depends on the team you are working with. I had the opportunity to work with a very supportive and passionate team who cares deeply about the team and department goals. It is great to have upper management who understands the difficulties of particular projects and assign additional support where necessary to help complete our tasks.

    Cons

At a smaller branch, there are definitely constraints with budget, work space, and time. Sometimes you would have to switch gears and drop projects, but that's understandable in any company to have priorities.

I have been working at Hologic full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

In my division, I am supported and feel like a valuable part of the team. I have the tools I need to get my work done. My manager is great, and encourages my growth and maximizing my skills. Though here under a year, I see there is growth potential for me, and feel confident I am on a solid career path.

The building is great - updated with good amenities, plenty of shared space if you need some privacy, it's kept clean and stocked up. Really appreciate having a pleasant place to work.

Again, in my division, working remotely is not an issue when needed, and is a huge benefit in my opinion. Not all departments have the same policy on this however.

Salary and benefits are solid, slightly better than other companies.

I've worked at enough larger companies to appreciate that not everyone's experience is the same, even at a company that appears to have a positive culture and environment. I do feel that Hologic is solid however, based on my experience, and of many people I interact with across other divisions.

    Cons

Cons at Hologic are similar to other large global companies. Sometimes there is process that slows progress down, having to wait for a solution to be built and implemented can take longer than hoped, etc. However, change is not discouraged, as can be the case at other companies, and persistence usually pays off.

    Advice to Management

Having come from another medial device company, who had leaders and support staff that had been there for 10-20+ years, it's refreshing at Hologic to have a blend of the old guard and new staff. Companies primarily comprised of long term employees become stagnant and complacent, and though it is likely a difficult task to replace long time employees, from my view it seems to have helped keep the company fresh and progressive.

    Pros

Shared passion for making a difference in women's lives through insight-driven innovation

    Cons

Too much travel - away from home 3 days each week.

    Advice to Management

Keep your eyes on the longterm.

    Pros

Breast Health Division is always the most important division, gets the most resources and attention. Good benefits and bonus. Most people really want to do a good job and quality is important.

    Cons

Other divisions in the company have to sacrifice for the Breast Health Division. Company is still trying to fix the Aesthetics Division since the purchase. They do not invest in a long term strategy for each division, just the bottom line each quarter, with annual layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Stop pushing the "engagement" survey down everyone's throats and feeling like you are accomplishing something. Stop letting the bullies run the show,

I worked at Hologic full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Was a good starting salary. Had good benefits and can work from home during bad weather.

    Cons

Emphasis has changed to quantity over quality. Lot of pressure to work very fast - main objective . Very easy to lose skill set, customer confidence.. pay good if no concern about type of work.

    Advice to Management

Try to show you care about workers and customers and be more approachable. Hire one new person at a time. Was hard to learn, no one had time.

I worked at Hologic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people. New leadership (President, Sales and Marketing) is positive and optimistic- they're great assetts to the company and will definitely help pull it out of the slump. Interesting industry with innovative products. Good sales training program being built out. Hologic is a reputible organization to be associated with.

    Cons

Different culture now that Cynosure falls under Hologic. Always in the "dog house" because of super low sales- most of the sales team is brand new and unfamiliar with technology- everyone else is being punished because sales are down. Hologic is trying too hard to turn innovative and fun culture into stale corporate culture. VERY unrealistic expectations from Hologic on how fast employees can move and get work done, which leads to a LOT of departures/burn outs. Little to no opportunities for promotions due to lack of budget.

    Advice to Management

Provide resources to your employees instead of letting those resources go. If an employee is struggling to keep up, reach out to them instead of threatening them. Be flexible. We get it, Cynosure was not a good investment for Hologic, but pulling funding, budget, as well as letting people go who were "strategic" vs "revenue generating" will do more harm than good. Listen and learn instead of trying to push a completely different culture/industry. Not everything was working well prior to the aquisition, but some things worked really well- let them be.

    I worked at Hologic full-time

    Pros

Great products with innovative technology. Very good benefits and fun culture - but only if the company is doing well.

    Cons

Company has been not doing as well in the past year - lots of layoffs and restructuring. Overall culture has suffered and good talent is leaving. 80% turn over in sales leadership across the organization and a lot of turnover in marketing.

I worked at Hologic full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Standard benefits that every other company gives. Also a slight increase in salary + bonus every year.

    Cons

    - Upper management's "engagement" policies are a sham. They do not engage with the lower employees period.
    - Be prepared to take on triple the workload for very low pay compared to other companies. Also be prepared to work with very limited resources, and upper management will NOT backfill any positions.
    - Upper management's idea of "engagement" is to come in every few months with a 15 minute speech. That does not work.
    - You will work on very poorly managed projects with half your resources and half the usual deadline.
    - VERY SLOW CAREER GROWTH. Be prepared to face years of hard work with no promotion in sight. Ever.

    Advice to Management

    1. Actually ENGAGE with your lower employees. Don't just come in and talk for 15 minutes and leave. It's not our job to get to know you. It's your job to get to know US.
    2. When a department says they need resources, actually listen and give them resources early on. Don't say you have no money but then we find out you spent xxx million to acquire another site.
    3. Plan your projects so they don't actually triple our already copious workloads with half the time.
