    Pros

    Salary was more than expected

    Cons

Good ol boy network keeps you from moving upward in the company. Only way to get a promotion is to apply for a new job that was already promised to somebody else.

    Pros

Exceptional compensation package and endless opportunities for hard workers.

    Cons

The fact that benefits have drastically diminished as our 15 year contract comes to a close is trumped by the fact that we are now struggling for company viability. Utter failure of Business Development.

    Pros

Good pay until you get laid off.

    Cons

Company was created for one 15 year contract. 2016 is the end of the contract, and they are not winning any significant new contracts. NJVC may cease to exist in less than a year.

I have been working at NJVC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - The pay is good if you have been with the company for a while
    - Work is stable at least until the contract runs out

    Cons

    - Benefits have gone downhill over the years, PTO accumalation was decreased a few years back
    - You start out with 0 hours of vacation time, which sucks when when other contracting companies will start you out with 4-5 weeks of PTO.
    - Training is virtually non-existent unless you are in the good old boys club. You are expected to learn what you need on your own.
    - If you are new, you are going to get shafted on pay; the days of decent starting pay are over.
    - The only raise you will see is an annual merit increase of up to a whopping 3%. If you want more than that, you'll have to find another job within the company or leave altogether.
    - It can be pretty hard to get hold of the company's HR department when you need them, especially since they never seem to answer their phones.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people and pay attention to what they need. After all, it's their efforts lining the pockets at the top of the corporate food chain.

    Pros

    Work life balance is good.

    Cons

People are treated like dirt. Communication is horrible. Most Management do not know how to manage, they need to be taught how to be a manager.

I worked at NJVC (More than a year)

    Pros

None to mention as company is being disbanded.

    Cons

Due to recent contract losses, NJVC is being "absorbed" by it's parent corporation, Chenega. Employees given very little notice and no assistance in finding new roles or employment transition. Even the HR department is being terminated .. so they're not exactly friendly or helpful.

    Advice to Management

Openly communicate with employees. They are the reason you win new work .. failure to communicate is why you lost work.

    Pros

great employees who are very skilled and experienced with their field. very mission focused.

    Cons

friend hire friends and promote and raises are the same way. very unfair process and unethical. yes, they have an ethics committee but its run by the same folks. the fox watches the hen house.

    Advice to Management

truly create an ethic department that reports to the Mother company Chenega. Only chenega should be part of the hiring committee
