Exceptional teams hindered by unrealistic leaders

Pros

The people doing the day-to-day work are exceptional. The engineers, product managers, AI experts and other teams are incredibly talented, collaborative, and genuinely care about building products that help customers. The company's greatest strength is the dedication and quality of the people on the ground who consistently go above and beyond despite the challenges they face.

Cons

Senior leadership, especially the new PEO leadership (ex-Amazon), has created a culture where aggressive timelines and unrealistic expectations have become the norm, often at the expense of thoughtful planning and sustainable execution. There is a strong emphasis on delivering quickly, which can make it difficult to raise concerns when timelines, priorities, or approaches are not working. As a result, many employees, especially VPs+, appear more focused on protecting their jobs than engaging in open, honest discussions about risks or challenges. A healthier culture would encourage constructive disagreement, empower employees to speak up without fear of negative repercussions, and value transparency as much as execution. The other concern is a perceived lack of consistency and transparency in how leadership opportunities are awarded. Often, promotions and senior hires appear to favor existing personal or professional relationships over demonstrated performance and impact. Whether or not that is the reality, the perception alone can be damaging, leaving many employees feeling they must continually prove themselves while others advance more easily. Greater transparency around promotion criteria and hiring decisions would go a long way toward building trust and reinforcing that opportunities are based on merit.

Pros

Prior leadership at lower level

Cons

Speaks to equality for everyone but when it comes to people with mental health issues they don’t care!

Pros

Friendly people, great benefits, good place to learn new skills.

Cons

Morale is steadily declining. Over the last couple of years many high performers on various teams have left due to toxic management, unclear direction, misalignment between products, high stress, annd impossible tasks with tight deadlines. On top of that, they seem to think AI is the answer to everything and don’t replace those who leave like they should so everyone feels the weight. The new, former Amazon leader has made things feel like it’s a, “get with the program or get out” type situation, and unfortunately I think the good ones are choosing the latter.
