I worked at Sutherland full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

$12 an hour is not a terrible base pay.

    Cons

The management doesn't seem to care about their employees. They were often too loud in the background while dealing with customers.

    Pros

The work environment. Never a dull moment around my former coworkers.

    Cons

The work load was quite a lot in comparison to how much you get paid.

I have been working at Sutherland full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They send you the equipment, and it if breaks, they overnight replacements
Good tech support staff available for software related issues.
Training is really good for my program
The people are wonderful. It's a fun environment, even though there is a tinge of stress. But, be good at your job, and they leave you alone.
Great benefits medical wise. Way cheaper than the exchanges via ACA. They don't cost anywhere near what my pals at other places are.

    Cons

Not a lot of information on how to navigate the multiple benefits websites. It's like they train you how to do the job, but not how to be an employee for the company.
They promote based on first impressions...or, not promote for the same. Even if those first impressions are totally off base, they stick to it.
There is a LOT of pressure from upper management to middle management, often leaving the middle managers with far too much work and unable to support their staff properly.
Middle management people with attitudes, stressed out, overworked, and certainly underpaid.
No documented chain of command to work issues out with.

    Advice to Management

It's a call center. So there isn't a lot of time to keep employees up to speed on the changes in policies, but there really needs to be time allotted for employees to either update themselves in peace or hold weekly team meetings in rotations so the virtual floor isn't empty.
Let your managers have a moment to breathe! They are the lifeline and the communications portal between you and the folks in the trenches. If they can keep us up and inspired and having a good time, we produce better for you!
If someone meets the metrics, then promote them and not a second before. I saw folks coming out of training right into leading and not know a thing. They fumbled, they screwed up, one even threw a fit and started insulting the new reps. Then to watch really great people still doing the same job after a year. Sad.
Don't force an employee to walk out the door because they made a bad first impression. Keep the people with the experience you need to make a well-oiled middle management staff & retain happier employees.
