      Pros

Great executive team, the product works well and is competitive, there are several opportunities for growth and career mobility, to build brand awareness for yourself. Great culture and people.

      Cons

Growing pains which causes collaboration issues/sharing of information, complicated sales cycles for relatively mid size deals

Ride the Waves & Look Ahead

      Pros

Culture is king here, truly. I've not felt more supported in & out of the 'job' than I have here. Leadership on down wants you to be successful but also not to hate your life, so they very much bang the work/life balance, mental health, personal time, flexibility drum. Leader in the space. Known solution, making some waves in an established space. Sounds like good things are coming as well. Going back private. Some people see this as a con, but truly it's going to allow the org to heavily invest in its future solutions.

      Cons

The space is being more and more commoditized and cloud vendors are trying to edge out 'data mgmt' orgs. It can be tough to get a deal done; or rather, sometimes the juice ain't worth the squeeze. This is more on customers dragging things out vs internal roadblocks, but it's the nature of these sales cycles that should be taken into consideration for anyone looking to join this space.

      No idea what's going on

      Pros

      - Some teams have really great people and work well within their teams - Huge market/industry upside that is only growing

      Cons

I have never been at a company so fundamentally misaligned in my entire career. Whole departments and teams are completely misaligned, oblivious, or actively work in opposite directions to one another. Sales teams don't know what Marketing is doing who doesn't know what Product is doing and vice versa. Marketing rolled out new messaging and left Sales wondering "okay so what do we actually sell that does the thing you just said?" Talend honestly has the absolute worst cross-team collaboration and multi-department alignment of any company I have ever worked at. Things on the product side aren't much better. The core business is still based around an open-source Studio product which is quickly become dated compared to new competitors in market and the new product strategy is named after champagne regions of France...for reasons? The result of all this is no one actually knows what's going on and everyone just does their own thing while slowly muddling along.

      Talend sales is a trainwreck

May 13, 2021 - Sales in Redwood City, CA

      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

It's honestly difficult to come up with pros at this point. Everything is drastically worse than it was last year. Fewer opportunities to make money. Stressed out team mates and a dying culture as so many people are leaving and being replaced with Concur employees that have seemingly no relevant experience with selling a technical product.

      Cons

Everything has been made more difficult this year. Most sales members are either interviewing. If they aren't interviewing they're either waiting for their big deals to close or their stock options to vest, and then they'll be interviewing with the rest. Changes were made simply for change's sake and the well is starting to dry up as everyone's realizing how poorly 2021 was planned out. There's not much reason to think things will get better after the acquisition. Thoma Bravo has a reputation for laying people off.

      A company finding itself

May 18, 2021 - Revenue Operations Analyst in Corona, CA

      Pros

Great products fixing a real need in the market. Every supporting tool & software you can think of for salespeople.

      Cons

Growing pains as the company looks to transform & 4x revenue. Faces the same business challenges that we strive to solve with our products & services yet can't see the shortcomings internally. Burnout in tenured reps is common. This is a point in time review - 12 months from now this could look completely different.

Great company but in need of a vision and direction

      Pros

Talend has a great heritage and a strong market position today. Helping customers transition to the cloud is a tremendous opportunity. We do have talented, creative people but they need focus and direction.

      Cons

The biggest challenge right now is a lack of clear planning. Too many priorities and not enough industry understanding in the top ranks. It's unclear what the future of our company will be staked on. Tenured employees that love this company are starting to have doubts.

      Pros

Investment and planning for growth, strong diverse leadership, culture of people who care, and massive potential to really disrupt the industry

      Cons

Continue to improve company-wide communication, collaboration, and focus. Too many priorities across the business. Need to simplify and focus on most critical ones.

      Pros

Sold Company in the last few months.

Uninterested, overpaid and completely clueless leadership team. Brought in to sell the company and get rich. After a year most of them can’t even spell ETL.
