Pros

Some of the most talented environmental designers I've seen. Nice creative space. Very casual environment.

Cons

Typically, I do NOT write many reviews. However, my employment experience was so disappointing I felt obligated to share my thoughts to help others avoid the same mistake I made working here. My list of CONS. -Often times people are hired and placed into roles which they did not apply for making it difficult to succeed. -Creative structure basically doesn't exist making it extremely disorganized and confusing. -Ownership and upper management vision do not align causing frequent change and lack of direction. -Constant turnover of talented people. -Poor company reputation throughout the Columbus market makes it very challenging to hire local talent. As a result, most creative recruiting happens out-of-town. -Be aware of a few particular upper management folks on staff. These people will to do anything necessary to succeed personal gain within the company (their reputation is very well-known). –The in-store shopping experience is quickly dying making the company nervous in regards to staying relevant in today's marketplace. (Majority of shopping is done online today creating less demand for environmental design opportunities.)

Thank you for your feedback! This was originally posted in 2016, but we wish you the best in your current and future employment. For others reading this feedback in 2022, we’d like to highlight some of the things that we’re proud of at WD. In 2021, our overall turnover was 17% and our 6-year average turnover is 26%. If you compare that to the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s national averages, we’re doing much, MUCH better than the rest of the country – even in our own industry and region – where the annual separation/turnovers are in the 40-60% ranges for that same 6 years. (https://www.bls.gov/news.release/jolts.t16.htm#jolts_table16.f.10) We’re really proud that our clients are keeping us busy and our associates are choosing to stay! In the WD Associate Satisfaction Survey from April 2021, here is how our Associates rated their satisfaction with working at WD… - 8.3 out of 10: Overall Satisfaction Score - 8.9 out of 10: “I would like to be working at WD Partners a year from now” - 9.1 out of 10: “Inappropriate or derogatory comments and behaviors are not tolerated on my team.” - 9.3 out of 10: “My manager treats everyone fairly with respect, regardless of their differences or background.” - 8.2 out of 10: “I’m able to manage my work in a way that allows me to maintain a healthy balance between work and home.” We do conduct exit interviews and appreciate the feedback received during those meetings. Typically, exiting Associates tell us that they love the people at WD! We examine all reviews from Glassdoor to identify any trends or areas of concern, but we also encourage all Associates to reach out to their manager, Executive Leadership Team Member, and/or Talent Care at any time. We do our best to offer potential solutions and share what is being done to address those concerns, though we understand that available outcomes may not always resolve all frustrations.

Pros

Getting to work with well-known brands

Cons

High turnover- so much so that they have begun to have a known reputation for it by those in the city that work in the industry Salary and benefits are not competitive Tight and often unrealistic deadlines Expectation to work ridiculous hours with little to no recognition or appreciation Non-existent on boarding Little if any access to management for guidance Having to play office politics Employees making inappropriate comments that created an uncomfortable work environment Lays off workers and takes away health insurance same day

We’re also very proud of the work our teams do to welcome new Associates. Our onboarding program is a partnership between Talent Care and the new hire’s manager and we work together to pre-schedule new Associates with a variety of people within the company. In most cases, the feedback we get about onboarding is that it’s highly organized and helpful with expanding their connections outside of the discipline they’ll be working in day-to-day. This onboarding is available to all associates, regardless of work location, including Associates working remote. We also offer a Recognition Program that can be utilized by managers and our Executive Leadership team to reward high-performing Associates individually in a variety of ways throughout the year. This program can be used in addition to our other compensation adjustments. In the WD Associate Satisfaction Survey from April 2021, here is how our Associates rated their satisfaction with working at WD… - 8.3 out of 10: Overall Satisfaction Score - 8.9 out of 10: “I would like to be working at WD Partners a year from now” - 9.1 out of 10: “Inappropriate or derogatory comments and behaviors are not tolerated on my team.” - 9.3 out of 10: “My manager treats everyone fairly with respect, regardless of their differences or background.” - 8.2 out of 10: "I’m able to manage my work in a way that allows me to maintain a healthy balance between work and home.” We examine all reviews from Glassdoor to identify any trends or areas of concern, but we also encourage all Associates to reach out to their manager, Executive Leadership Team Member, and/or Talent Care at any time. Pros

There are a lot of great people here, and some great clients too. WD uses their reputation in the industry to get involved with many substantial and influential clients in the retail industry.

Cons

Management and corporate structure seems to vary based on whatever the latest book is on the nightstand of the CEO. Too often, they rely on their reputation in the industry to bring in new business, but unfortunately, in a competitive market, that's not going to be enough. In a competitive RFP, WD will usually be the highest quote, and when the projects is awarded to someone else, the feeling is, "well, that client is missing out. We're better then those other guys, but they just don't know it.". Hiring sprees and significant reductions in force are common place depending on forecasted business, which makes it a very unstable environment to work. Salaries are not competitive, but you are supposed to accept this to work at such a prestigious company.
