I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Sur La Table (San Antonio, TX) in Sep 2011
Interview
The store is new to San Antonio. I applied online on a wednesday, on thursday I received an email for a phone interview the following day. I had a phone interview w/ manager on friday, I thought it went well. He asked about myself, likes/dislikes on current or previous jobs, why I applied there, basic questions. On wednesday I had a group interview with assistant manager and sales lead, along with 3 other candidates. They asked similar questions plus if given $500 for store what would you buy and what would you do with it. On friday I was emailed an offer for the job.

Question 1
How comfortable are you with coming in at 5 am? (Once a week, for floor sets and/or shipments)
Super quick and easy! All management levels in the store location were amazing and allowed you to feel comfortable! Definitely helps if you have some knowledge regarding brands and cooking to help customers.

Question 1
Would I be interested in growing within the company?
The interview is mostly about being yourself and seeing if you want to be part of a foodie minded team of part time co-workers. This group is like friends who work together and all have a common hobby. Just go in and be your genuine self, honest about your experience and availableity and see if what they offer matches what you need.
Lengthy and detailed they were trying to see if I was a good fit. I really wanted to work there but it was only to be closing the store because they were liquidating certain store locations in the east coast
