Question 1
What is geometric tolerance? Why is it important? What does this symbol mean?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla in Mar 2024
Interview
In total, there were three stages in the interview process.
The first stage was talking with HR. That was great. The HR not only asked for personal information but also provided some of the points that must be paid attention to. She also highlighted the long working hours and company spirit of "Change the World." The first stage lasted for 30 minutes.
The second stage was to talk with two colleagues who were senior employees. The time was around 1 hour. The second stage of the interview was quite stressful since they asked for many details about my previous experience in the first 40 minutes. Then, we moved forward to technical questions, like the stress distribution of the cantilever beam, which required a lot of preparation. I screwed up, but I received good feedback from the interviewers and received the invitation to the next stage next day.
However, the next week, TESLA announced a massive layoff, and I had yet to receive any information about the final stage to talk with the hiring manager.
Then, I received a rejection letter after one month. When I wrote the HR mail, she was dismissed as well....

2. Interview with who would turn out to be my manager. Basic technical questions surrounding material properties and physics problems. Primary focus on first principles thinking and being detailed in my thought process.
