I worked at CommScope part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone was very friendly and they genuinely tried to take care of their interns

    Cons

Kind of random locations around the country

    Advice to Management

The company is extremely bloated - there is so much redundancy in the corporate structure. It was hard to feel like the work mattered much - felt more like it was all just kind of evaporating into corporate bureaucracy.

I worked at CommScope full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good people who try to do their best work. Friendly work environment.

    Cons

Departments work in silos. Many redundant processes. With acquisitions, company is still trying to figure out correct processes. In some areas, departments are understaffed, long hours or weekends are worked regularly (even before acquisitions) and employees do not feel appreciated, while in other departments, employees don’t have enough to do and spend a good portion of the day on the internet or phone. Not enough focus on employee development. Late to market in technological advances (fiber). Access to managers is limited. Wages for some positions are not competitive. Medical insurance options are limited and very expensive.

    Advice to Management

Have clear, reasonable, and attainable expectations. Be more cognizant of what your employees are doing and how long it takes them to complete it. Problems or issues arise that can take much longer than expected to correct especially when working across departments. Give your employees the benefit of the doubt. Provide your employees with the tools to be able to do their job efficiently whether it be more staff in departments or professional development. $0 training budget is not good.

    I worked at CommScope full-time

    Pros

The people are great to work with.

    Cons

The Management has been changing and many of the positions have been filled with people from acquisitions. Those acquisitions were of companies that were struggling. CommScope has always had very financially sound processes and approaches. With the influx of these people from acquisitions, they are bringing in their processes or views and implementing them which is hurting CommScope. The upper management also don't value or trust the employees. They did a benefit audit to ensure all employees only included valid individuals on their benefit list. The audit required providing birth certificates and marriage licenses.

    Advice to Management

Get back to the values that had made CommScope great.
