I worked at CommScope full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large company with standard benefits of company this size. Vacation, Stock purchase plan, 401K, all average but would not say any area is exceptional.

    Cons

*Lack of vision in acknowledging market shifts from Copper to Fiber platforms.
    * Lack of R&D and innovation incentives for Engineers Design teams.
    * Failure of management to recognize and encourage professional growth of technical teams and individuals.
    * Lack of promotion opportunities & lack of clear direction by management in order for employees to have clear goals for professional growth and advancement.
Bare minimum cost of living increases each year. usually 1%-2.5% increases.
Inefficient and cumbersome systems for ordering, engineering, design, & new product development.

    Advice to Management

Mid level & Upper management issues that have been brought to HR's attention numerous times by numerous individuals. Nothing ever done to correct even after some departments saw 4,5, 6+ employees leave for other opportunities within a 2 year time span specifically due to management concerns.

I have been working at CommScope full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

World class products with leaders who understand and care about the business. The growth of the business and technology leadership makes it a fun and prosperous place to work. For anyone who enjoys a challenge, is eager to learn, willing to put their heart into a business this is the place for them. Its a large company with a small entrepreneurial feel.

    Cons

Tough to think of any cons really. It's in a competitive and fluid market space so being comfortable with change is important and if you are not I suppose this could be a con for you.

    Advice to Management

Stay focused on the customers. Continue to be exceptional leaders to the people and always keep integrity first as has been the values to date.

I worked at CommScope full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, nice people, easy commute

    Cons

My management seemed unaware of key skill sets possessed by employees and chased every rabbit scared up by an out of control and overly vocal sales force. Too often were individuals isolated and set up for failure by a system long on schedule tracking but short on risk assessment and teamwork.

    Advice to Management

Make sure your internal structure can never allow a customer to suffer from it's inadequacies. Focus on the important goal.

I have been working at CommScope full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Global reach. Local and regional sales leaders for the most part are great leaders. Employees are wonderful at the field level and loyal to a fault.

    Cons

Executive leadership at top completely out of touch with the field org. Many have an ego the size of China and while brilliant, if it isn't their idea it's a bad idea. No clue how a sales org should be run. Lots of politics in the sales org. The Enterprise leaders are all about personal growth and how to get ahead and the senior leaders of Global Sales let's the Service Provider team run all over them and are quite passive-aggressive. Will agree with you to your face then let you go after the fact. The SLT is a very old school thinking group that doesn't't like change. Little to no investment into the people. Lots of talk of change with little to show for it. Company doesn't make its numbers, you will get layoffs every single time unless you're an insider.

Seemed to make great strides in bringing in leaders who were massive change agents with TE acquisition then dumped them when they realized it required leadership actually change. Old school leaders old school future.

    Advice to Management

Get new executive leaders from outside. Invest in your sales teams instead of gutting them every time you miss your numbers. Maybe it isn't actually the field's fault.
