I worked at CommScope full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great product offerings, global company.

    Cons

Bought a BU from TE Connectivity that doubled it in size...leaders didn’t adjust well to new size and while transparent at the outset of the process, the CommScope way of doing things was the way it was, no forward thinking or synergy with respect to lean and operations...all the effort their was in products. A one size fits all approach to operations that are fundamentally different from what they are experienced in is difficult to retrofit, or force on TE legacy operations...listen to the people you acquired, who did in fact work for a globally recognized lean company.

    Advice to Management

    Advice to Management

It’s time to change old ways and bring the change to the company else people will fly.
Learn how to be a leader , at least hire people who went to business school. This company is full of veterans which have no right education and no right directions and they were told to manage.

Only miracle can save this company for fallout.

I worked at CommScope full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good salary/benefits and (mostly) good people.
Great place to learn and gain experience.
They are working toward making improvements, the internship program is a great sign of that!
Some of the C-suites are working hard on moving the company in the right direction and are incredibly impressive people! The CIO and CHRO in particular!

    Cons

Young employees are hired for their fresh-eyes and then ignored.
Change is impossible if you're under 40, and slow at best.
Company is aging, and not in a good way. They aren't hiring enough new talent and can't keep them when they do.
It can be an incredibly frustrating place to work because of the attitude, especially in headquarters.
Lateral movement is not enough. Many young professionals are looking to climb the ladder, not work under a manager with old-school methods who hasn't changed anything in 30 years.
People are very uptight and I found it to be a very stressful place to work.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring young talent and then ignoring them. Upper management, listen to the few C-suites that are actually trying to make changes. They're right, the old way is not working. For the love of god move your global headquarters out of Hickory, NC.

    Pros

Good for a first time welder. Safety is enforced. Easy work. Free coffee lol oh and vending machines just in case you forget your lunch.

    Cons

Slow to hire permanently. Must use company welding hood. Terrible schedule options. Production type job. Basically fixing the robot welders errors. Cell phone towers will be the next land lines. You are replaceable! Last but not least yuck!
