    Pros

The employees all want to improve themselves and serve their customers well.

    Cons

Upper management provides little direction and seems desperate to keep up with technology trends. Healthcare is double that at my previous employer. Other benefits are average at best. Upward mobility is by who you know, not what you know. Totally good ole boy network.

    Advice to Management

Provide better vision and leadership to where the company is headed.

I have been working at CommScope full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay and "meh" benefits. Make sure you use that good salary to pad your savings account in the likelihood you get fired in the first couple years. Work/life balance, for me, has always been good here, but it depends entirely on your manager. I've been lucky to have good managers that understand we have other life commitments, but I also know people with managers who don't seem to understand we don't live and breathe for work.

    Cons

CommScope is known for going into a hiring frenzy when things are good, then firing a bunch of people at the first downturn. CommScope has been in a constant state of reorganizing since I was hired several years ago. There's no stability; even the good workers are fired. They will reorganize and put people in jobs they've never done before. Right about the time you start figuring out your role, responsibilities, and teammates, they reorganize again, and you'll get a new boss with a new team. It doesn't feel like very much progress gets made within working groups.

    Advice to Management

There is a lack of direction from the VP level and down regarding specifics on how to achieve the generally vague goals that the executives set out for the company. As a result, directors and managers pull in different directions to achieve what they perceive to be "the right direction."

    Pros

Pay is very good. Friendly coworkers.

    Cons

Company seems to make management changes a lot. Lacks clear cut processes to follow and makes staff reductions but expects the same quality and quantity of work to get done.

    Advice to Management

Need cohesive procedures and set realistic expectations about workload in regards to how many employees are available in a department.

    I worked at CommScope full-time

    Pros

Great People locally and in the trenches. Good 401K match.

    Cons

No thought for work load (over-loading and not hiring as required). Continual lay-offs of good contributors. Harassment by off site upper management (verbally and monetarily). Slowly taking away any perks so that there are rare team building events. Morale below anything I have ever encountered. The only reason people stay is because either a)nothing else in the area of corporate or b) they have been at the bought out company for a long time and still reap the benefits/compensation of that entity. Horrible health insurance.

    Advice to Management

Start caring about your employees. Doing so does not have to be costly. Fire those that continue to taint the pool (and jeopardize the real talent). Look out for your people!!

I worked at CommScope part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone was very friendly and they genuinely tried to take care of their interns

    Cons

Kind of random locations around the country

    Advice to Management

The company is extremely bloated - there is so much redundancy in the corporate structure. It was hard to feel like the work mattered much - felt more like it was all just kind of evaporating into corporate bureaucracy.
