Pros

Short Work Week, could be a great job for students as long as you dont get stuck at work.

Cons

As compared to other human services organizations, InVision accepts individuals who are the worst of the worst. Most of the individuals are extremely violent and will attack and injure staff. Individiuals will exibit extreme psychological behaviors while you are stuck working for 56 hours or more alone with them with no support at all. The supervisors will expect you to stay and finish your block shift with them even after an individual has attacked you. You have to use your own funds and personal vehical to take the individual on outings and wait forever to get reimbursed. You do not get paid at all for staying overnight at the individuals home when they are sleeping. Houses are very filthy and staff that work other blocks do not bother to keep it clean and tidy. Supervisors are overworked and do not care to respond to concerns that you may have. Due to the extreme behaviors of the individuals Invision has a high turn over rate and is often short staffed so you will often get pulled to work with a potentially violent aggressive individual who you have never shadowed and been trained to work with before. You could get stuck at work if no one shows up to relieve you and you can not leave because you will get reported to HCCIS for neglect. The supervisors will not relieve you even if you have other obligations that you have to tend to after you are scheduled to get off from work.

Pros

Two and a half day block shifts with four and a half days off. Lots of opportunities for overtime if you are willing and able to do it.

Cons

You are expected to stay overnight without pay at the individuals home. Coworkers and supervisors can be very unproffesional with their interactions with individuals and other staff. There are a lot of cliques, crossing boundaries, and inappropriate relationships between support staff and supervisors so when a long time DSP is crossing boundaries, not doing their job accordingly or working well with other co-workers the supervisors will often times ignore your concerns about a co-worker. There is a lot of bullying and work place harrassment that goes on among co-workers and if you report it to a supervisor you are considered to be the whiner, nothing gets fixed, and the work place harrassment continues. Most of InVisions clients have very significant mental health challenges and can be a danger to themselves and staff so, when you are by yourself in a crisis at work you will receive very little support from an emergency on-call supervisor. Due to the significant mental health challenges of some individuals and the long block shifts their is a very high turn over rate so good luck with finding long term stable, rewarding employment with this organization.

Got hurt by their client

Pros

Not a lot to mention besides a 3 day work week. If you don't mind being cut, slapped and spit on, then this is a great job for you. You will be hurt sometime while working at the group homes. If you are trying to sleep at night be careful because your bedroom door may be kicked down.

Cons

I was violently attacked by their client and the company just had me examined by their list of doctors. Clients are dangerous and should not be in group homes. They are much stronger then the staff and can hurt you instantly.
