    Pros

    Excellent training schemes and scope for promotion

    Cons

    Bad management. unforgiving of days off for sickness. Frequently asked to jobs not in your job description. Expected to drop family ties for work. Expected to work early mornings after finishing at 11 or midnight the day before. No double time or bonus for working Christmas day etc.

We're yet to open a restaurant the other side of the Atlantic, however I can say that we pay the following across Christmas: • Christmas Day – Double Time • Boxing Day & New Year’s Day – Time and a half • New Year’s Eve (From 6pm) – Time and a half Regarding your other points - we know working in the hospitality industry can be demanding, but we recognise it's important to get the right balance between challenging and impossible.     Good elementary development, encouraging staff and motivational individuals, good company benefits and range of roles and skills to be trained in

    Cons

    often shift work, inflexible working and holiday entitlement, low pay, from one extreme to the next between being underemployed and overly worked for the salary paid.
