Position Overview
The Utility/Prep Cook plays an essential role in delivering the elevated culinary standards that define Cedar Cove Ranch. This is a hands-on, versatile kitchen position responsible for high-quality breakfast execution, production of baked goods and desserts, food prep, F&B organization, cocktail support, and maintaining a spotless kitchen. Ideal candidates take pride in their craft, thrive in early-morning service, and bring consistency, reliability, and attention to detail to every task.
Key ResponsibilitiesBreakfast Preparation & Service
· Independently prepare and execute complete breakfast service (eggs to order, pancakes, waffles, French toast, breakfast meats, etc.) - as per coaching and expectations
· Set up, maintain, and break down breakfast stations
· Prepare batters, fruit displays, breakfast casseroles, and other components in advance
· Ensure smooth, timely service for early-morning guests
· Maintain proper hot-holding temperatures and food safety standards throughout service
Baking & Dessert Production
· Produce fresh baked goods daily: breads, rolls, biscuits, muffins, pastries
· Mix, proof, and bake yeast and quick breads
· Prepare pastries such as cinnamon rolls, scones, and coffee cakes
· Execute desserts including pies, cakes, cookies, and plated sweets
· Create dessert components such as custards, mousses, sauces, pie crusts, tart shells, and garnishes
· Assemble and finish desserts with consistency and excellent presentation
· Maintain baking inventory and produce items ahead for upcoming services
Food Preparation
· Chop, peel, portion, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and chef instructions
· Execute basic cooking techniques (boiling, blanching, roasting, etc.)
· Prepare garnishes and plate components for premium presentations
· Organize prep work to support efficient service and event operations
Kitchen Maintenance & Sanitation
· Maintain a spotless work environment throughout shifts
· Deep clean equipment and surfaces according to schedules
· Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols
· Properly clean, sanitize, and store tools and equipment
Dishwashing & Warewashing
· Wash, sanitize, and store all cookware, utensils, dishware, and smallwares
· Maintain an organized and efficient dishwashing area
Kitchen Organization, Inventory & F&B Support
· Restock workstations and rotate inventory using FIFO
· Label and store all food items correctly
· Maintain organized dry storage, coolers, freezers, and bar supply areas
· Support F&B leadership in maintaining par levels for kitchen and bar supplies
· Complete grocery and F&B item pick-ups as assigned, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
· Organize all incoming F&B items, verifying quantities and storing products according to CCR standards
· Maintain a clean, well-labeled, and efficient system for food, beverage, and bar inventory
Service Support
· Assist chef during meal service as needed
· Working early morning hrs and/or closing late night
· Plate dishes to CCR’s presentation standards
· Support servers during meals, private dining, and events
· Assist with table setup, dining area organization, and breakdown
Food & Beverage Service & Cocktail Support
· Serve meals to guests with attention to detail and proper technique
· Clear and reset tables efficiently
· Assist with beverage service during meals and events
· Prepare and serve basic cocktails to guests following CCR’s hospitality standards
· Handle bar setup, cocktail garnishes, and beverage prep
· Maintain clean, organized drink service and bar support areas
Equipment & Safety
· Safely operate mixers, slicers, food processors, ovens, griddles, and knives
· Follow all equipment safety protocols
· Maintain situational awareness and prioritize safety in a dynamic kitchen environment

Position RequirementsRequired
· 2+ years of kitchen or food service experience
· Demonstrated breakfast cooking experience
· Baking production experience
· Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
· Ability to follow recipes precisely
· Ability to work early mornings
· Reliable transportation for grocery/F&B pick-ups
· Positive, professional attitude
Preferred
· Culinary training or pastry-focused coursework
· 3+ years of experience in professional/high-volume kitchens
· Experience in hospitality, luxury resorts, or event-driven environments
· Familiarity with cocktail preparation and bar support
· Ability to work independently during breakfast service
Physical Requirements
· Stand and walk for extended periods
