Was Good Before Leidos, Bleak Outlook Now
Feb 21, 2023 - Software Engineer in Huntsville, ALRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Some good people that still work there
Cons
They were late on my last paycheck and for my vacation days, still haven't given me my W2 (Feb 21), extremely difficult to resolve issues with now, pay is low, benefits are low and are getting cut more, is now Leidos, and ultimately what made Dynetics great (ESOP and great, experienced people that developed a thriving work culture) are gone.

There are much better places to work as a Software Dev
Oct 4, 2022 - Computer Engineer in Huntsville, ALRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Certainly had some great people as teammates. Good empathy and willingness to learn. - Work trips become good learning environments. You get to meet other people from the branch you may not usually have the opportunity to talk to.
Cons
- People who never studied management are promoted to management positions based solely on engineering work performance. Most of the time (every time, in my experience here) this resulted in poor team organization, communication, and awareness of leadership intentions. In one case, I wasn't even aware my manager moved to a different building! He had never thought of letting me or my other teammate know. - Salary is not competitive at all. At a mere 2 years of experience here I'd get calls from other companies in the area offering me at least 50% more than what I was making, with equal or similar benefits. - Software development work is not very satisfying. At best you are maintaining aging systems with poor documentation. - Poor understanding between work groups, e.g., security team vs. IT team vs. software engineers vs. management. This may lead to friction and bad blood. - Witnessed an insane turnaround rate for software developers the short time I was there. Make of that what you will.

Amazing co workers and manager.

Current integrating under Leidos and so much is changes. No structure but my co workers and manager are awesome!
Cons
Communication is key. Listen to the employees to avoid higher retention rates.

Not the same business I interviewed with
Mar 1, 2023 - Technical Writer/Editor in Huntsville, ALRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Coworkers are still kind people who are good at their jobs.
Cons
Benefits have been significantly reduced with no attempt at compensation. Management will not work with you to ensure pay is commensurate with years of experience under the Leidos job mapping system. The next area that will probably see significant cuts is leave accrual.

Untrustworthy
Feb 21, 2023 - Quality Inspector in Huntsville, ALRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have yet to have a good experience where I was grateful to work here.
Cons
The Leidos acquisition has been a messy take over of processes, systems, and softwares. Most of the benefits advertised are only for the headquarters location in Huntsville, but they didn't say that until after day one. You're lucky to get paid at all with how many glitches the payroll system/department has on a regular basis. Underpaid and overworked. High turnover rate for the hourly workers. The company has expanded into manufacturing and has no clue how to manage it.

Good employees Great Buildings Very Clean Friendly Food vendors
Cons
Bad Management Poor leadership skills
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Lots of flexibility with work schedule. Company encourages a good work/life balance. Environment differs from building to building. I work at the best with great coworkers and managers. Great pay with good benefits. I would recommend to anyone who is good at their job and has a great personality match.
Cons
There have been some changes going under the Leidos umbrella, but overall is still better than a majority of the companies in the area. Work environment is very dependent on the building where you work. MidCity location is so far to this point a fire ant bed, hopefully it will improve over time to be as good a work environment as most of the others.

Lots of opportunity for technical work
Feb 3, 2023 - Embedded Systems Engineer in Huntsville, ALRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Diversity of interesting projects to work on, good coworkers, very smart people. However, I have heard this depends very much on the department you are with. Can get 24 hours of Flex Time which is good for banking to use for vacation instead of your 3 weeks PTO
Cons
Benefits are lacking with other companies. 401K matching is not very good, 3 weeks PTO. Most everybody works in the office, but it depends on your group.
