Pros

Good work/life balance, fellow colleagues are great, benefits are somewhat decent. Parking garage is there for snow days. That's really about it...

Cons

I firmly believe Bill McNabb has destroyed Vanguard's reputation. What was once one of the best investment firms to work for us now a joke. The pay is near insulting and the ones who move up in the company are the brainless yes men who live to brown nose upper management. I hear stories of Bogle and the emphasis on the crew but now it's all about cutting costs and management feeding us lies of how changes to grade levels are a benefit (it's not. From employees who already are not getting paid enough, you're taking away even more. Vanguard has become the Walmart of the financial industry and I suggest you stay away and find something better.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
