I have been working at Toys "R" Us full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Rotational Program Provides you with everything you need to be a business leader, whether you want to do Merchandising, Supply Chain, or Retail Operations in 2 1/2 years. Also an international rotation. I have never heard of program getting you where you want to be faster, and more effectively than at Toys "R" Us.
    - Comprehensive Training Program where they ACTUALLY care about your development and learning. My Mentor, Sponsor, Managers, and Coworkers have given me all the tools I need to be successful, and I can go talk to anyone at any time whether it is my director, manager, or coworker. If you want to know more about a function of the business, you can ask and they can set up meetings and classes for you. You become an expert in business, not just your current role.
    - Leadership Team from Managers, Directors, VP's, EVP's, and even our CEO Dave himself make an effort to get to know you and want you to be successful. I have worked at other retailers, and no one has ever cared about my personal development as much as them- it's really remarkable that they know my name and want me to be a leader.
-Coworkers are bright, very team oriented, and the culture is very fun and positive. They have many events and giveaways to their employees often to show their appreciation. My manager even throws birthday parties for our team members.
-Very good salary, benefits, and you get lots of free toys!
-Great work life balance and summer Fridays.
-Campus complete with a cafeteria, Starbucks, gym, dry cleaners, and multiple floors and towers- with a lake front view.

    Cons

-Recent Filing, however this is a restructuring, and the business is going to come back stronger than ever before.

    Advice to Management

Continue to show your employees how much you care, and we will easily become the most desirable retail company to work for.

I have been working at Toys "R" Us full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    -Develop a team.
    -See instant results.
-Upper management is very fair and doesn't let hard work go unnoticed.
-Development opportunity within the company to help employees who want to progress upward be able to do so.
-Upper management is approachable and does not play favorites.
-Integrity is valued and does not promote sketchy business practices
-Flexible scheduling, 401k, health benefits, 10% off discount, yearly review/ raises

    Cons

-Sometimes different objectives lead to miscommunication
-Growing number of outside hires in management leads to a lack of knowledge about the core processes of the company.
-Often understaffed because of lack of hours.
-health insurance deductible is too high

    Advice to Management

-Try to promote from within wherever possible. The daily duties of management are extensive and if an outside hire is only trained to do the management position, this can result in lower level mandatory tasks being neglected.
-Communication of clear goals so all Team Members are on the same page.
-Require lower management to make decisions and take ownership of their decisions.
-Be more generous with hours. If customer service is top priority, we need more employees to be available to help them.
