I worked at Toys "R" Us part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They are willing to work with you scheduling wise. There are early am stocking shifts as well as late night closing shifts that can work with anyone's schedule

    Cons

Not a lot of room for growth. Felt more like a number then a person. Very reluctant to give you full time hours. Poor pay. Hard work for little in return.

    Advice to Management

There are a few a mangers that really treat their employees with respect and use their own time and money to give back to the staff. The corporation as a whole however lacks team appreciation. (Lots of cut backs of team picnics etc) If your employees feel valued and respected, then they will work harder and have more respect for their jobs in return, causing lower turn over rate.

I worked at Toys "R" Us part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Super chill work environment, easy job

    Cons

They only care about credit cards, You work long hours over the holidays, I got laid off without a reason why,

    Advice to Management

I feel like I could have been more relaxed and better at my job if I wasn't trying to convince people with a low level of education to sign up for something that will hurt them financially. I was third best in credit card signups at the store I worked at and the just stopped giving me hours.

I worked at Toys "R" Us (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most stores are geared towards becoming a one-stop shop. TRU is a unique specialty toy store which can not only provide great toys for the family during the Christmas season, but all year long.

    Management staff is very supportive.
Monthly Training initiatives are geared towards improving customer service and team engagement, which all equate to a better customer experience.

    Cons

Returning Seasonal employees, do not receive additional compensation for previous store experience.
I eventually left the company because having 19+ years of retail experience and excellent surveys and customer feedback did not allow me to earn higher wages or management opportunities.
You may often become discouraged by coworkers who strive to do as little as possible while you over compensate for their lack of interest in company goals, but don't give up. The people who steal will eventually be fired, but the lazy people will never be fired because good workers are extremely hard to find and management would rather keep their numbers than fire the bad employees.

    Advice to Management

Pay good employees more to retain them.
Pay good hourly employees with experience fairly because they are probably running your stores while management is off-site making personal calls or sitting in their offices.
Pay all returning and seasonal employees more than an extra $0.50 for returning to the company.

I have been working at Toys "R" Us part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love my coworkers and the low stress working environment during the off season, and during the season it's fun to meet new people and work hard.

    Cons

Selling credit cards, warranties, etc etc is integral to getting hours. It's the reason I'm looking for a job elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

See the good parts of employees besides credit card sales rates.
