      Flight Attendant Interview

      Mar 2, 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Fort Worth, TX

      Application

The process took 3 months. I interviewed at American Airlines (Fort Worth, TX) in Feb 2017

      Interview

*This is a really long entry but reading everyone's experiences really helped me feel prepared&relaxed my nerves so I wanted to be able to give that same feeling back to anyone else going through this process. I wanted to give as much information as I could so I hope this helps! If you have any questions feel free to ask!* F2F: I walked into the room&was immediately greeted multiple happy flight attendants, the host then guided me to a table(8 people to a table)&gave me a worksheet to work on that has you number a list of things on what is most important to do if the CEO of AA was on your flight. As soon as you get to your table start interacting with the other candidates, introduce yourself be friendly. There were some people that were walking around&introducing themselves but I just stuck to interacting with my table bc it can get pretty hectic in there. Once everyone gets in the host shows a brief video about AA&then explains how the day is going to go. He also introduces the other FA that will be part of the interviewing process. You then start on a group exercise with your table&you have to find 3 things you have in common then write one unique thing about yourself for the rest of the room to guess about you. Your group then goes up there to present. This really helps you relax&ease the nerves. After that the other interviewers come in&start calling people to do the group interview(the nerves come back at this point haha) I was in a group of 10&we go to a different room. The interviewers explain how no decisions will be made today&after that part of the interview was done you would be pulled out one by one&that was your last chance to talk to an interviewer about your resume&any questions you had. We then are asked 3 questions. The first question we go in order from how the chairs are the other two goes in any order. The first question was tell us about yourself&why you want to be a FA. Everyone's approach for this question was saying their name, where they were from then explained their customer service background. The second question was name a difficult customer service experience you had to face. Make sure to name a situation that was difficult&how you resolved it. The last question was a random one, they hand out a card&you can't look at it till you stand up and read it. Mine was name a time you recognized someone for their exceptional customer service. I'll list the other questions below. Once the hard part is done you go back into the first room you did the group activity in&the host presents a slide show on what it's like being a flight attendant. Once that's done you are able to ask questions&that's when they start pulling people. I was the 4th person to be called&it was by an interviewer I hadn't seen all day. He explained how I was going to do a drug test, take finger prints, then have a one on one with an interviewer. I noticed that no matter which was you go or who calls you out you can't tell if that means you made it or not bc they man who called me out called another girl out before me and she wasn't there doing the drug testing &everything. So as I was waiting to be drugged tested they do my one on one and this is really causal. Make conversation with your interviewer, relax, at this point they are really considering you for the job so just let your personality shine through don't be nervous. He then had me read a paper that offered me a job. I can't go to training till I get my passport but he still scheduled my training date. He also gave me a packet to study. I then did my other testing&i got my acceptance email today. I honestly have no idea what they are looking for it's so hard to tell. I wore a pink nude dress&a navy blazer with navy heels&my hair down and curled. Lots of girls were dressed exactly like a FA though&some made it some didn't. Out of 40 people maybe 15 made it. Some of the people that were really social&outgoing didn't make it. I noticed it was more of the reserved people that made it through. I don't know if they already have an idea of who they want before you get there or anything like that I honestly felt like I did really bad in my group interview&thought I was going home so I was shocked when I got picked. My advice is to just be yourself&don't try to overdo it. I know it's a really nerve wrecking experience but they said that 330,000 people apply&only a select few make it to the f2f so just be proud of yourself for making it that far. You are obviously qualified&a great candidate for the job so if you don't get it the first time try again it's a learning experience. Just relax, be yourself,&enjoy the experience.Best of luck to all the candidates!
