There is an initial "Get to know phase" of the interview. Essentially a first level Team lead will come up and introduce themself and ask why you want to work for target, your experience related to the position, your stengths and weaknesses, and if you can handle basic cashiering practices. After that there are 3 to 5 "Tell me about a time you..." questions. They are looking for a specific situation, the interviewees behaviors in regards to how to resolve the situation and the outcome. In addition to this the anwsers are reviewed based on scope (the magnitude of the situation), complexity (how many steps were needed to resolve the issue), communication ability (did you listen to the questions, did you give a clear and concise answer, etc.), and effectiveness (was the issue resolved). After that you will be asked to confirm your availability and such. The team lead then scores the applicant on a scale of 1-6 and gives them a final color coded grade (red, yellow, green) and a final recommendation. It varies from store to store from here but for most if you didn't pass you will be sent home politely (the "we will contact you" line will be used). If you did pass you will be set up immediately for a second interview with an etl (executive team lead) who will follow the same process as above but with different questions from a different guide. The tl and etl will then discuss and if they choose to hire you 99.9% of the time you will be offered on the spot (sometimes the hr isn't present and they will give you a specific date to come back).
