JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance Engineer
LOCATION: Remote (Preferably Ohio Based)
POSITION TYPE: Full time/Entry Level
ORGANIZATION: Flash AI
About the Opportunity:
Are you passionate about the power of emerging technology to revolutionize public safety? Do you thrive on ensuring complex, secure systems work flawlessly under real-world conditions? If so, we invite you to join our team as a Quality Assurance Engineer to help maintain the reliability and integrity of Flash, a cutting-edge call monitoring and intelligence platform deployed within a CJIS-compliant infrastructure on AWS GovCloud.
In this role, you will help own quality across our platform, validating AI-driven transcription pipelines, multilingual speech analysis, link/network analysis, and investigative workflows. This opportunity is ideal for an adaptable, curious engineer roughly two years into a testing career who can bridge hands-on technical testing with a compliance-first mindset, and who is excited to grow fast in a startup environment where quality directly impacts public safety outcomes. If you're ready to help engineer the reliability behind the future of digital forensics, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
● Write and maintain manual and automated test cases covering functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end scenarios, growing into ownership of larger test plans.
● Validate core platform capabilities including call transcription accuracy, multilingual speech processing, and AI/ML inference outputs.
● Contribute to automated test suites and learn to integrate them into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
● Perform API testing against internal microservices.
● Document and triage defects with clear reproduction steps, severity classifications, and root cause context using Jira.
● Partner with developers and product managers during sprint planning and retrospectives to champion shift-left testing.
● Produce test summary reports and quality metrics for leadership and client-facing release readiness reviews.
Skills and Experience:
A solid foundation in software testing, with hands-on experience in both manual and automated methods across cloud-native SaaS products.
Some practical exposure to at least one automation framework (Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or pytest) and a clear eagerness to deepen that skill, including integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured, and a willingness to learn containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS) on the job.
A generalist mindset and genuine curiosity for AI/ML systems; any exposure to speech-to-text, NLP pipelines, or LLM-based outputs is a plus, but we value the ability to learn new domains quickly.
Comfort with agentic development and productivity tools such as Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code, or interest in picking them up quickly.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong sense of ownership and the adaptability to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment.
Demonstrated organization and attention to detail, ensuring reliability whether you are triaging a critical regression or designing a compliance test matrix.
Adaptability to an evolving technology stack; we do not expect candidates to have mastery of every tool listed, but we do look for a passion for learning and the ability to grow alongside our platform.
