Pros

Booz Allen Hamilton can be a great place for work-life balance. 40 hour weeks are common, and the culture is that taking vacation and flexible schedules are almost encouraged. Part of this is because it is government consulting. Overall, people are friendly, collaborative, and generally bright. They are also very diverse (racially, gender, age, background), and diversity is a core value. Booz Allen has a great reputation in the consulting world, and in the wider business world, so it should look great on your resume. However, government consulting may not look as good as commercial consulting if you then look to transition to the private sector.

Cons

Government consulting can be dull and frustrating. Improving government programs, while important, can entail change that takes years to design and implement, and there are so many stakeholders in government that need to agree before change can happen. It can be frustrating to see hard work not be fully implemented, or to not even know the result of your project. Despite the global nature of Booz Allen and the many different practice groups, it is not as easy as they make it seem to switch teams or work on very different projects. Realize that the group you join Booz Allen in will probably be the source of your projects unless you try switching "jobs" to get on another team. Project staffing is haphazard and doesn't usually best match people's skills and interests with projects. This results from people not being placed on the right team when hired, and then not having resources to find about other projects besides those that one's supervisor (ie. admin manager) works on or knows about.

Pros

It’s highly dependent on your team and contract, but personally the people I worked with directly (including my managers) were excellent - smart and driven people. It’s a large company so there are plenty of resources available if you seek them out.

Cons

Rigid review structure that limits and delays promotion opportunities despite successful delivery on contract.
