I have been working at SendGrid full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There's a lot of talk around SendGrid being Narnia, and it is. Big opportunities for professional development and growth internally. The culture is strong, the executive team is stacked with incredible experience, the offices/perks/benefits are outstanding, flexible work/life balance, etc, etc.

    Cons

In my amount of time at SendGrid it's in the best place possible right now.

    Advice to Management

Continue listening and taking action. The amount of care put into the engagement surveys, as well as taking action, has made such a positive impact. It makes us unique and doubles down on caring about employees.

I have been working at SendGrid full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits and culture prove that their number one priority is the employees. Senior leadership is the best I've seen at any company; their vision is clear, well explained, and inspiring. The work is challenging and engaging... This is a nearly perfect place to work.

    Cons

Downtown Denver isn't my ideal location; there's not much room to get outside and go for a run, for example.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing and don't change the culture; keep guarding it as strongly as you have been.

I have been working at SendGrid full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

SendGrid's 4H culture (happy, humble, honest and hungry) makes it easy to come into work every day, knowing that I'll be surrounded by smart, motivated people who work together arm-in-arm on challenging and satisfying projects. The executive team is top-notch - extremely smart, experienced, customer-focused, and huge employee advocates.

    Cons

I don't have any complaints. I get fantastic support from my manager and I'm incredibly proud of the team I work with. When there are concerns or opportunities to improve processes, employees are empowered to speak up and take action.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I have been working at SendGrid full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Culture is ingrained in everything we do (truly). Amazing opportunity for growth and development here in my current role as well as cross-functionally. OC office is close knit and balances productivity and fun nicely. Fantastic alignment on company imperatives and how my function/role will impact them.

    Cons

I wish my team could travel to and spend time in the OC office more.

    Advice to Management

Align company goals and check in regularly on them with functional areas (VPs/Sr Dir) so they can empower line managers to do the same with their teams. There needs to be more connective tissue grown between the ELT and SLT.

    I worked at SendGrid full-time

    Pros

They are a good company that took care of their people, if you were close with the right people in the company. If you want a close community with plenty of kool-aide, this is the place.

    Cons

As they're getting bigger they're having a cultural identity crisis and some of the new upper level people aren't great.

I have been working at SendGrid full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone is happy all the time :) Lot's of perks - free lunch, gym membership, wifi bus, vacation in Mexico, stock options.

    Cons

The wifi bus from Boulder to Denver is bumpy.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

    Pros

Challenging work, flexibility around schedule, manager that cares, CEO that cares, career planning and development... seriously... is this real life?

    Cons

Not enough... snacks? JK - I'm sure there are some, but from where I came from, this is nirvana...

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in your employees. You do a great job caring, living the 4Hs, and developing your people - don't lose that.

I have been working at SendGrid full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people are 4H: humble, hungry, honest, and happy. I enjoy working with these intelligent and motivated people. You are hard pressed to find similar technical challenges and career growth opportunities in SoCal; the systems are highly concurrent and operate at scale with a large existing customer base.

    Cons

We are still struggling to develop solid development environments. Our stack is varied and complex, and while we make progress in making development easier for ourselves, there is room for a lot of growth in this area.

    Advice to Management

Upper management is nailing vision and execution. Give more support, guidance, and tutelage to middle managers.
