    I worked at Xaxis full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, and fun company events

    Cons

Very agency like (hire young kids, bad pay, very corporate). They tend to hire names rather than skilled people

    Advice to Management

Focus on hiring more experienced workers and less on the political "who you know"

    I worked at Xaxis full-time

    Pros

    - Opportunity into ad tech field with a recognizable brand name.
    - Work with various data partners, platforms, and names within digital field.
    - Work/life balance was fine. Nothing over the top.

    Cons

    - Multiple hiring and promotion freezes. Don't expect to climb the ladder if you weren't there since the beginning.
    - Turnover rate extremely high. Most employees are disgruntled.
    - Lost all "start-up" culture. No more fun outings, parties, etc.
    - HR department all left. Telling sign of bad news.
    - Have witnessed multiple layoffs. All layoffs are discrete so others don't freak out.
    - Founder has left umbrella company. Multiple early-stage employees all left. More signs of a collapse.
    - Removed most benefits. Terrible 401k plan. Only positive is health and wellness plan.
    - Pay is very poor. Competitor's pay much more.
    - Told to give a good Glassdoor rating during orientation. Unfair in my opinion.

    Advice to Management

    - Considering most of the founders and original employees have left, for whoever is left in mgt you should follow in their footsteps before it damages your own personal brand of being a high level member within a tanking company.

I have been working at Xaxis full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Programmatic arm to WPP agencies so business constantly flowed in
    - Exposure to different ad forms and different industry verticals
    - Pay is better than agency salaries but is no match for rival ad tech companies and big names, i.e. Facebook

    Cons

    - Favoritism. Don't expect to move up based on your own merit. Xaxis only promotes a select few people and thus, have lost a lot of talent along the way from making bad promotion decisions.
    - Loss of company culture. Xaxis used to be filled with warm faces and ambitious goals, but now everyone bonds over the poor prospects of the company (misery loves company)
    - There are 5 account teams, and they all do things differently. Guidelines are not streamlined and communication between teams is ineffective.
    - Leaders of the Xaxis don't know which direction to steer the company to, and it shows
    - There is a training program but it's not the best. You learn on the go. Sink or swim. If you sink, management is sure to condemn you. If you swim, management is sure to take advantage of you/work you to the bone.
    - Work/life balance is only available for middle management who are able to pawn off the work or to those favorites
    - Middle management is a joke. They're a bunch of mid 20 year olds who have no idea how to manage their teams and shape their careers. They're required to go to a management retreat but that's just an all expense paid excuse to vacation and drink.
    - Xaxis is a huge gossip mill. Even the VPs are guilty of it.

    I worked at Xaxis full-time

    Pros

Smart and nice coworkers, I have been keeping in touch with some of them after I left.

    Interesting projects to work on.

Perks - free fruit on Mondays, happy hour with free beer and wine on Thursdays or Fridays at the end of the day, company outings and parties.

Decent pay, above the average for similar positions in other industries.

Possibility to work from home when needed.

    Cons

The managers of the department I worked in are micromanaging, nit-picking and use foul language towards employees.

Virtually no possibilities to pursue projects and tasks outside the box you are put in - or to move to other teams within the company.

Work assignments were very different from what was in the job description when I got hired.

Outsourcing, frequent reorganizations, high turnover. A lot of good employees have left and this is having an impact on the quality and stability of company's products and services.

Software releases are done on an almost weekly basis and are rushed through without proper testing, resulting in stability issues that require ongoing fixes and frequent rollbacks.

Properly securing the systems against malware and intrusions is not considered a priority and this resulted in a major disruption recently, caused by a virus that disabled many systems.

    Advice to Management

Show some respect towards your employees and refrain from verbal abuse, even when you are not happy with them. Allow employees more freedom to work on projects that they are interested into, this will benefit both them and the company.

I have been working at Xaxis full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Certain managers take a hands off approach giving employees autonomy and great sense of ownership. Endless opportunities to learn more about the business. The Training & Development program is one of the best I've experienced. I have exposure to senior leadership frequently.

    Cons

Work life balance for some teams makes it difficult to implement process and change. No clear hierarchy or org structure. No resource allocation or prioritization processes. Overlap across groups and roles.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to push (QUICK) updates more often - not long emails.

    I worked at Xaxis full-time

    Pros

Xaxis was really a great place to be during the early years. The place felt alive. Leadership was palpable and inspiring.
In the last 2 years it has turned into a sad reflection of what it once stood for. Its embattled leadership is struggling to retain talent. There's still some silver linings - but they are getting slimmer and slimmer with time.
    - Still a big brand name in the industry
    - Training program is ok
    - Some smart people left in the org. You will learn.
    - Work with a large and diverse group of clients
    - Agency lifestyle - if that's appealing to you

    Cons

    - Since original leadership (Brian Lesser + Brian Gleason) moved over to GroupM more than a year ago the company has struggled to articulate a vision and provide a path forward.
     - Top down communication is terrible. It's a "boys club" at the top levels.
    - Clients are leaving at an alarming rate
    - GroupM is choking Xaxis. Cutting benefits. Freezing pay increases. Halting promotions and replacements.
    - Morale is at an all time low.
    - Relationships with the agencies has become extremely adversarial. Xaxis is the punching bag of GroupM.
    - Internal products are extremely weak. No real investment in tech.
    - Big ego's. Leadership has completely lost touch with the base. Constant management retreats.
    - Long hours. Low pay. Recognition is hard to come by
    - It has lost its "startup" culture. It's a big and bloated organization with lots of politics now.
    - Did I mention a complete lack of leadership - at all levels?

    Advice to Management

Get back to a "startup" culture. Walk the halls. Talk to people. Admit mistakes when they are made. Recognize and motivate employees - you are choking your best people until they have no choice than to walk away. Pay them well. There's a big pay gap between mid-level and senior level. Stop with the agency "churn and burn" mentality. Your slideware is great - but most of it does not work when put on the market. Focus on the product and invest in your tech.
