I have been working at Colonial Penn Life Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very health conscious , convenient location , very fair pay ..they pay for the licenses

    Cons

If you are not making the company money .....they don't want you . They care nothing about the customer , all that matters is getting the initial premium. If I don't get out of here I will have a heart attack .......the stress is unreal . I have seen some wonderful people leave or even get fired .......for nothing .
They care more about a script then making a person feel comfortable about the items they are buying.

    Advice to Management

Keep in mind .....we are working with people not robots .....you can make a person send in the policy .

    Pros

Great people to work with. I had the weekend off. Overtime if you want to work late and on the weekends.

    Cons

Managers don't know anything. They make think you are wrong for not making money. Other people had to work on the weekend and, it was not overtime.

I have been working at Colonial Penn Life Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's nice to receive a paycheck so that bills can be paid. Some of the folks who work here are really special and hard working people.

    Cons

The supervisor "review" from 7/21/16 looks very suspect. I would not be surprised if they were asked to post that comment with five stars just to raise Colonial Penn's rating on Glassdoor. There was nothing of substance in their review and they neglected to leave a comment which contained the truth.

    Advice to Management

Instead of having employees post fake reviews to make the rating look better, create a more efficient work environment without crushing and haphazard micromanagement in the sales department.

I worked at Colonial Penn Life Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The general consensus is the same - most of the people here are absolutely wonderful.

    Cons

Here is a good title for this - they fired me while I was going thru cancer treatment! They rated me as unacceptable because I missed time for cancer treatment and did not make goals. They wrote me up for not making goal while I was still going thru cancer treatment. With that out of the way - this place if filled with favoritism - there is micro management beyond belief. They reward lying to customers. They lie to you constantly. They write you up when they change the rules - then realize that you cannot change the rules and backdate it. Outside of the fact that you will be calling elderly and those at risk every hour on the hour until they hang up on you or they finally fall out of the system after 2 or 3 weeks. Then again, you might be calling someone who an unscrupulous coworker just recycled into the system so they do not get a hit as a no sale - yes - it is that petty. And yes - even if people are calling for just free information and a free gift - you are supposed to sell them. Make your numbers - you will be written up - unless you are a favorite. They tell you this is sales and service - no - its sales.

    Advice to Management

Nothing really - it starts at the top - and no one really cares. Putting a company spin on things is a way of life

    Pros

Office is clean, coworkers keep you motivated.

    Cons

    -High turnover rate
-Commission structure designed so most employees only get hourly pay
-Micromanagement to the utmost degree (One of my coworkers was told he couldn't go to the bathroom until his scheduled break which was 3 hours into the shift).
    -Little to no work/life balance.
-No upward mobility, if you are hired in sales, you will stay in sales.
-CEO has no idea of what is going on within entry level departments.
-Company requires you to offer a high monthly premium even if it doesn't suit one's affordability/exploit's elderly customers mental state by forcing expensive policies down their throat. HIGHLY ILLEGAL CONSIDERING YOUR DUE DILIGENCE AS A STATE RECOGNIZED LIFE INSURANCE AGENT *COUGH* *COUGH* PA INSURANCE COMMISSIONER !!!!

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging, overworking and underpaying employees. You are losing good sales people and this is clear by the amount of job listings in telesales online.
