I applied online for the Agent Operations role in Seattle and in Dallas (where I lived). Lucy the recruiter called me and encouraged me to interview for the role that I applied for in Seattle since I was looking to make a move and that relocation might be offered. I did a 20-minute phone screening interview with the recruiter going over my background and the role. In less than a week I had three video interviews over an hour long with the Agent Operations Regional Manager, Director of Agent Experience and the National Manager of Agent Operations. The interview questions were easy since I had worked in the industry and knew of Compass. After each interview, I sent thank you emails and heard back from each person I interviewed with thanking me for my time and looking forward being touch. Two days later I received an email from the recruiter stating they were looking for someone with more of an account-management background and not an extensive real estate background, followed by a link to join the private Stella network. After rushing me through the interview process and receiving positive feedback each time, Compass wasted my time. I felt like they did not want to pay for relocation, so they made up an excuse not to hire me, I asked if I could be considered for the Dallas role since it is the city I currently live in. A month later Lucy emailed me back to say she would forward my information to the person recruiting for the Dallas job. A month after that I had two separate recruiters (Antwan & Christopher) reach out to me on same day hours apart asking if I was interested in the Agent Operation Role. They both messaged me as if I had not known anything about Compass or interviewed for the role. I had to explain to them where I was in the process and that I have already interviewed, I never heard back from either one after. Instead a week later a new recruiter (Keith) emailed me to discuss the role, again as if I never applied. I explained to him my confusion and frustration since he was now the 4th recruiter. Once on the call he was not prepared and kept having to pause to find his notes, he informed me they just opened the Dallas office a couple weeks ago. (Which was a lie because that is what they said when I interviewed originally. He wanted to set up one final interview with the National Manager of Agent Operations, when I told him again I had already interviewed with him he was shocked. He followed up with me the next day to let me know that they would not be moving forward but sent a link to join Stella. After working for Corcoran and Elliman (Compass competitors) everything I had heard about Compass came to be. The recruiting process is impersonal and very unorganized. Four different recruiters reached out to me for one role and no one talked to anyone else internally. If they did offer me the role I would have declined due to the fact that if Compass cannot get the process recruiting organized, how are they going to launch and expand nationally? To me this was a perfect example of how the company is run.
