Interview
Pretty poor experience applying for Amazon as a Software Development Engineer if I'm honest.
Applied for a web-based role that I exceeded the requirements for by quite a margin, proceeded to get sent leet-code tasks that hold no relevance to the position/use anything their job description requests as essential or nice to have.
Very heavy use of mathematical notations in the problems (when have you ever had to solve business problems that have been written as an equation)
I was going to push through and begrudgingly do the test as I'm aware the bar is high for FAANG, but I decided to close the test and withdraw my application because if they are hiring people based on these tests, I fear they won't be anywhere near suitably equipped for the role they are hiring for and one or two developers will be carrying the whole team productivity wise.
Subsequently applied for an equivalent Google role, received a much more sensible test. I have now accepted an offer a week later

Leet-code problems with heavy mathematical notation (because of course that happens in real life)
It started with an OA, and then after a few weeks, I got invited to four rounds of interviews: technical and behavioral at 3 of the 4, and behavioral only at one.
I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon (São Paulo, São Paulo) in Jun 2026
Interview
Empresa extremamente clara sobre o que é pedido na entrevista e isso me mostra a seriedade. Minha experiencia foi positiva e tente se atentar a resolver o problema e não somente decorar padrões do leetcode.

Interview
Online Assessment is the first step in the process. I didn’t have an HR phone screening and went straight to the OA after applying. It was sent to me about a week after I submitted my application.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The first question is LeetCode style algorithms question, and the second question gives a full stack repo (choice of Java, NodeJS, or Django) and asks to solve a backend issue which is causing a bug in the frontend. Unit tests must pass to pass the second question. You can run both backend/frontend indivdually or together
