Pros
Pay when you have an assignment is great.
Cons
Where does one start? Holidays are few and usually don’t align with the clients so you have to utilize your vacation pay to get a full pay check. Once you go on the bench there is ZERO communication from your “Champion” when you ask what is going on get told oh yeah nothing right now I am advertising you though don’t worry. They act like they are about the people but they are more after making money and are primarily an accounting firm. If you do anything else besides that good luck getting an assignment after the fact!

Good place to start a career in consulting to confirm this is the type of work you enjoy doing.
Cons
If you are a consultant, you do not always feel part of the company. At times felt as if you are part of ManPower operations.

Excellent Opportunity with Less Stress
Oct 1, 2022 - Consultant in Cleveland, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
1. Competitive Pay, hourly rate so paid Overtime. I don’t make the same pay as a sitting CFO/Controller, but the life balance is 1000% better. Good trade off depending on where you are in life and career. 2. Get to choose assignments. 3. Flexible with ability to choose how many hours you want to work per year. 4. Company 401k match is okay at 50% up to 3% of pay (would say 4-5% limit would be more competitive with other large firms) 5. PTO earned and is competitive. After 4-5 years about 4 weeks of PTO with 2,000 hours worked. Starting out is sort of low at about 2 weeks (seasoned professionals are used to 3-4 weeks). 6. Maintain health care for 3 months without working. 7. Colleagues are professional. 8. No office or boardroom politics. That is a huge plus for me personally.
Cons
1. I find the healthcare options expensive relative to my spouse/past. 2. No paid sick time (this really should be addressed, not competitive). 3. Unpaid “bench time” if you are not assigned to a client. You have to file for unemployment. I’ve not experienced any bench time as of yet. My local office does a great job providing me with client assignment opportunities.
