Customer Service has been removed from the CSM role

Jul 30, 2021 - Senior Customer Success Manager, Enterprise in Jersey City, NJ

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Your peers and your supporting engineers make this a great experience when reaching out for resources to assist you. Remote / WFH opportunities

      Cons

Everyone is overworked and single-threaded. Even when you express a need for assistance, you will only receive more workload or be told to just make it happen. Client relationships built on trust and satisfaction are no longer desired. RXT is only looking for transactional opportunities and ignores clients who are failing to meet targets because we fail to meet deliverables and targets. CSMs receive the brunt end of client dissatifaction because we cannot find the resources or assistance from ELT to improve already poor experiences.

      Great Place & Good People

Jun 30, 2021 - Manager Sales in San Antonio, TX
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great benefits, hybrid work from home flex, awesome coworkers, philanthropic opportunities, exposure to major hyperscalers, Racker resource groups, inclusive.

      Cons

There are people in leadership positions that have no business managing other people, the usual office politics, sometimes the company priorities are confusing and unclear, constant focus shifts, will hire externally before promoting internally, poor merit and promotion programs for internal candidates, great talent goes unrecognized too often

      Cutting costs everywhere

Jun 13, 2021 - Manager in San Antonio, TX

      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

HR is fantastic Some senior leaders are very supportive and understanding Some great benefits like PTO, health care, flexible working, remote work

      Cons

ELT has cut a significant amount of people in the US and the UK. They are exclusively hiring in Mexico and India to backfill. I’ve seen my team hemorrhage leaders and employees with either zero backfills or low cost backfills. Our profits are so low that they are now cutting software to save money for lack of profitable sales. They cut Slack, switched most users to basic licenses with O365, and will be cutting Zoom, Confluence, and many other tools that allow people to do their jobs. There were no raises in 2020 for anyone in the US and the UK, only in India and Mexico. They’re pushing people out. 2020 was completely misguided. They told the company at every opportunity that we had the best sales quarters in history. Best this, best that. End of the year hits, then they tell us we failed to meet internal goals and our bonus would be reduced. Do not join Rackspace in the US or the UK. You will not be given any career opportunities. You won’t have any budget for your team to grow.

      Pros

Cannot think of many post IPO.. Base salary was competitve

      Cons

Unreasonable work hours Increased demand on teams while all but completely halting hiring and opening job recs Cost cutting to increase margins has squeezed employees across the board - unexpected changes in scope of work, hours, and - most alarmingly - pay structure

Great company with very smart people

Jul 31, 2021 - Senior Accountant in San Antonio, TX
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Everybody who works there seems to love the company. There are so many smart people working there so you can learn so much from your peers. Everybody tries to make the workplace a fun place.

      Cons

Sometimes you have to work for long hours. Also, the company is in the growth mode so frequent leadership changes made people nervous about their job, which oftentimes led people to leave the company.

      Pros

      Rackspace has great employee benefits!!!

      Cons

Company is struggling financially and has laid off 10% of its U.S workforce. Like most tech companies they are moving jobs to India to save money.

      Downhill Fast

      Jun 13, 2021 - Network Security Engineer V

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great work life balance, great PTO, okay 401k, pretty good insurance, nice partner discounts. Great place to get exposure to routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancers quickly.

      Cons

Employment is being pushed offshore (management will use right shoring) to Mexico City and India. No raises for anyone outside of Mexico City and India. Fired a significant amount of employees over the past 9 months but for some reason it hasn't made it to the public but recruiters are aware of this. No backfills in the US, UK, or AU unless it's critical. Losing senior talent left and right. The loss of talent is so bad that they are asking people that were let go on a delayed schedule to fill positions that are now open because other senior talent has left. Average pay is about 15-20% below market average and unless you are business critical, even then maybe not, you shouldn't expect any sort of raise or even cost of living adjustment.

This place used to the best

Jun 25, 2021 - Manager in San Antonio, TX
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Several leaders are afraid of public speaking, so if you can fill that gap for them, you can get attaboys rather quickly. Low-skilled workforce so mediocrity really shines. Lots of blame shifting, so its easy to now really do much. Several skilled and long-term employees have left, so you could prob slide right in because we're bleeding talent.

      Cons

Pick your topic and Rackspace is mediocre at best and in decline for sure. It's a very sad place. Our customers are fully aware of this company's decline and it's depressing and a difficult cloud to work under. No managers and several D-level leaders are afraid to talk to the Front line or present any sort of truth. Several "Good ol' boys" clubs within the company. I do mean exclusively to men (Vmware) helping other guys advance their career for little to no actions as long as they have jokes and like hunting. There's a history of scandal as well within this circle. Company severely under appreciates everyone and everything.

Come for the Corporate Culture, Leave for the Executive Leadership

Jul 28, 2021 - Accountant in San Antonio, TX
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Laid back corporate culture and dress code, lots of PTO, good benefits, flexible hours, work life balance (ish), onsite gym, one on ones with manager once a month.

      Cons

Low pay, no room for growth, barely any time to take the amount of PTO, never received a raise during the 2 and a half years I worked there, executive leadership is constantly changing, offshoring jobs to India
