I started the hiring process in March after being “Head Hunted” by one of their recruiters for a specific role. I had an initial recruiter call and then an initial interview which went extremely well with of the Partners of the area. I was then moved to another Recruiter and told that I’d be through to the next stage which just needed confirming with the Partners of the area and an offer alongside it. A few weeks turned into months, with every 2 weeks that past, I sent a chaser email/call which was almost never replied to. Eventually I was told (after going through 3 different recruiters) that the SAMA area in the UK was going through a review and restructure, which would be due to complete by September. Until then they’d put the position on hold but I could still be suitable for another similar role in a different area. After another 3 weeks, I had a call with the other Hiring Manager who was happy to put me forward (I never heard anything about this role again). This was especially strange as this Hiring Manager told me that many of the Partners were talking about my application to ensure “Deloitte don’t loose the application through the hiring cracks”.
After September and then October rolled around, I again nudged the recruiter to see what was happening with the original role. After a further few weeks and escalating up to the recruiters’ boss (due to the recruiter being on A/L). I was then told that they were freezing all hiring for that role until the next FY.
This has definitely put a bad taste in my mouth and I’m not sure I’d be applying for another Deloitte UK job again.
