Smart Meter is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to join our growing data platform team. This role will play an important part in developing, maintaining, and improving the data pipelines and systems that power analytics, reporting, and operational workflows across the organization. The ideal candidate is a pragmatic engineer with strong SQL and Python experience who enjoys building reliable data workflows, improving data quality, and supporting scalable data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest and process data from internal systems and external APIs. Build and maintain Python-based data processing workflows to extract, transform, and load structured data across systems.
Develop and optimize SQL queries, database schemas, indexes, and transformations supporting analytics and operational workloads. Integrate data across multiple platforms including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and warehouse systems.
Support batch and real-time data pipelines, ensuring reliable and timely data processing. Implement validation, monitoring, and alerting to maintain data quality and pipeline reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline failures, data inconsistencies, and performance issues. Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable and actionable data solutions.
Develop and maintain analytics-ready datasets that support business intelligence, reporting, and data-driven decision making. Design and maintain scalable data models and warehouse schemas to support analytics and downstream applications.
Automate and orchestrate data workflows and pipeline processes to improve efficiency and reliability. Contribute to data platform standards, documentation, and engineering best practices across the data ecosystem.
Required Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in data engineering, data platform engineering, or a related role. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases. Experience building data pipelines and automation using Python.
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases. Experience integrating data from multiple systems and APIs.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Preferred Qualifications. Prior experience working in healthcare or healthcare technology organizations is a plus.
Experience working in production data environments with high reliability requirements. Experience with GitHub or similar version control systems.
Experience with data streaming technologies (Kafka or similar).
Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
