Downtown Chicago law firm, is looking to expand our Information Technology Team with a full- time Software Developer. The Software Developer will be responsible for the hands-on design, full-stack development and support of front-end and back-end software related business solutions within our organization. This individual should be self-motivated, willing to execute tasks decisively and communicate objectives clearly and concisely to the firm's IT Management Team, IT vendors (as needed) and key stakeholders within the organization. The ideal candidate blends solid software engineering principles, AI-driven software development skills, and AI prompt engineering.
Job Duties
· Design, develop, and deploy custom applications that support the firm's business initiatives across their full lifecycle
· Build end-to-end solutions using the team's core stack, including C#/.NET, JavaScript, SQL Server, REST APIs, etc.
· Identify, analyze, and resolve defects in custom applications and databases, documenting root causes and fixes
· Limited troubleshooting of issues across software, network architecture, and database design in coordination with IT support vendor
· Maintain code quality through version control, documentation, and adherence to team development standards
· Use AI coding assistants and modern development environments such as Visual Studio Code to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and automate routine tasks
· Collaborate with senior management, third-party vendors, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions
· Create and maintain technical documentation for applications, integrations, and known issues
Qualifications
Required
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical recommendations and trade-offs to stakeholders
· Hands-on experience building and deploying web and enterprise applications
· Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or a comparable RDBMS, including writing queries, stored procedures, and basic schema design
· Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT, VSCode, or Cursor in a development workflow
· Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git
· Sound judgment in identifying when decisions require management input or approval
· Demonstrated ability to learn new languages, frameworks, and tools quickly
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive business information
Preferred
· 2+ years of professional software development experience
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and software development experience
· Familiarity with .NET, React, Azure, etc.
· Experience integrating third-party APIs or working with system integrations
· Prior experience supporting business stakeholders in a law firm setting
Benefits:
Salary $70,000 - $75,000 (See benefits listed in Ad format)
