POSITION: TELECOMMUNICATIONS MECHANIC II - Apra Harbor, Guam

WORK DESCRIPTION: SHIPBOARD TELECOMMUNICATIONS REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE SUPPORT

We are currently seeking qualified candidates to provide technical support and engineering services for Shipboard Telecommunications Systems for Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) at Apra Harbor, Guam.

What you will be doing in this position:

• Candidate shall be required to resolve a variety of difficult computer operating problems
• Candidate shall provide technical assistance to lower level computer operators and assisting programmers, systems analysts and subject matter specialists in resolving problems
• Candidate shall Independently determine the work sequences, tools, and materials required
• Candidate shall follow or refer to layout sheets, craft plans, floor plans, circuit schematics and descriptions and manufacturer' s technical guidance
• Candidate shall be running cables, key cables or wire to all telephone sets, terminal connectors, lugs, pins, or screws associated with key telephone equipment and terminating equipment for non-voice circuits

What you will need specifically for this position:

Candidate shall demonstrate their experience with Installation, removal, maintaining, modifying, trouble-shooting and repairing voice and non-voice communications systems including:

• Intercom and public address systems
• Alarm systems
• Electronic and electromechanical telephone key systems
• Terminal and communications equipment; line drivers and computer cabling and networking

Teletype equipment

• Electronic and electromechanical telephone key systems
• Telephones
• PAC-STAR telephone systems
• Interface/ancillary equipment such as modems, line drivers, patch panels, station carrier units, line couplers for speed dialers, voice recorders, telefax machines
• Local wire and cable in support of voice and non-voice networks for computers, data, and
• Alarm circuits

Candidate shall be skilled in the use of test equipment such as: voltmeters, ohmmeters, current flow and continuity testers, handsets, breakout boxes, decibel meters and optical time domain reflectometers and computer diagnostic equipment to analyze and restore faulty voice and non-voice circuits.
