Certificate Hero is a remote-friendly startup software company primarily located in the Boston area. We leverage the latest technologies to develop cutting edge digital SaaS tools that change the way insurance brokers manage everyday tasks. Our team is still small but we are growing rapidly, and we are seeking talented individuals who are excited to take this journey with us and have a massive early impact on our product.

Who You Are

We’re seeking a software engineer to assist in building out our vision and delivering incredible customer experiences. You’ll work as part of a motivated and flexible team to build out project features while writing testable, maintainable code. This is a fully hands-on position where you will work closely within an engineering team, so good communication skills are an important part of the profile we’re seeking. You should be adept at learning best practices and applying them to your work. You’re someone who is ready to hit the ground running, and who has a deep appreciation for the balance between technical proficiency and delivering on tight deadlines.

What You’ll Do

• Be a core member of a small but rapidly growing web engineering team
• Work with us to solve interesting technical problems and pioneer creative and industry
  disrupting solutions
• Build amazing product experiences in web across front-end and back-end systems
• Write and ship a lot of quality code quickly, potentially under tight deadlines
• Report on progress, communicate often, and be an active part of our Agile practices

Our Ideal Candidate Has

• 5+ years of hands-on experience shipping quality code across various stacks
• Strong background in JS frameworks; we use React, you might have experience with Angular or Vue
• Professional experience working within a Node/Node microservice architecture is a strong plus
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or work experience
• Experience with database & persistence technologies including NoSQL and MongoDB
• Experience working within Agile SDLCs, preferably in startup or fast-moving environments, but any such experience is helpful

Good to Have

• Experience building software for a startup
• Experience building server-rendered applications using Next.JS
• Experience in the insurance technology or insurance industry
• Experience building solutions with Google Cloud Platform and Firebase
